I have borderline personality disorder - coming off meds

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have BPD I got diagnosed 6 yea4s or so ago. I'm on lamotrigine 200mg a day, mirtazipine 45mg a day, zopiclone 7.5mg a night. Pronanolol as and when.

I'm so sick of being a zombie, I feel nothing. I've decided to come off mirtazipine. Cold turkey . My psychiatrists doesn't know. I feel bloody fantastic, I can't stop laughing, I'm witty sharp thinking, ahead of the game, doing loads of things I wouldn't usually be confident enough to try, talking to everyone where I never talk to anyone. I feel like I'm on drugs...... Or am I deluded and just having a really big mania episode???

Hi I think you are having a false euphoria and you will come down with an almighty crash when the withdrawal symptoms hit.  It is never a good idea to just stop your meds cold turkey and you need to do it slowly to avoid the worst of it.

Also you need to be feeling a better for at least 6 months before attempting to come off your meds.  I hope you don't get the withdrawal symptoms but I doubt it.  My advice is to go back on and withdraw very slowly.  x

I agree with hypercat..it is never a good idea just to go cold turkey with anti depressants. As the mirtazapine will have been keeping your serotonin levels at a straight and suitable level.. If you have stopped... you can expect levels to crash within 24-48 hrs.

I would make an appointment with you're doc or psychiatrist if you really feel like the meds are too much.

I have borderline personality too.. diagnosed last year. I am on venlefaxine and was previously on olanzapine too.. I also felt like I was becoming a zombie so I spoke to my doctor and stopped the olanzapine by reducing.

BPD is like being on a constant rollercoaster of emotions. Hang in there.. and speak to your doc if need be

    Good luck
