I have done a blood test because I have lots of lumps in my neck, what could the results tell me?

I have over 7 lumps in my neck and the doctor said the first thing she wanted to do was a blood test. What could this blood test reveal about my lumps? I get the results in 2 days and I have no idea what to expect.

It will totally rely on which set of blood tests your GP has requested, mostly I would think they are looking for inflammation and infections

    It's probably just swollen nodes

Have you had a viral infection recently

Thanks for responding, I haven't had a viral infection recently no, and some of these lumps are too big to be lymph nodes apparently. I think the type of blood test they are doing is a complete blood count

Whereabouts on your neck are they, a full blood count will do haemoglobin, inflammation and some vitamin so maybe she is also thinking a viral infection

They are in lots of different places in my neck, i have a large one on the right side of my neck over 1 cm wide and I've had that one for years but now there are 2 pea sized lumps both right next to the large lump, 1 pea sized lump in my chin just behind the chin bone, i have a very large saliva gland in the right side of my neck behind the jaw. On the left side of my neck near the jawbone there are more small lumps that dont feel round and I also have another 2 pea sized lumps elsewhere, one of them is under my left lower eyelid and the other is on my forehead above my right eyebrow.

I think they are checking for infections so we can start to look in the right direction as we have no idea what the lumps could be right now
