I have finally stopped Venlafaxine... ...shock of electricity

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have finally stopped Venlafaxine, I feel totally fine and content, but the only thing is... when ever i move my eyes up,down left or right I get this weird sensation for a split second, it's like a wave or a really really low shock of electricity, it doesn't hurt but its unpleasant. I just wondered, is it normal and should i just ignore it until it goes? Will it ever go do you know? I really hope you can help. Thanks

I had what I can describe as little earthquakes where the room seemed to shake for a split second. They will go after a week or so I think it must be your brain getting used to not using the drug.

How long were you on it?   How many mg’s.   And why did you come off of it?  Just curious because I just completed my 3rd week just starting it.

    Hi

i was on 225mg ER for about 2 years and came off it cold turkey about 18 months ago. I had the electric shock / zapping in my brain, that were very unpleasant, alongside lots of other withdrawal symptoms, and they lasted at least 6 months.

i still get them now occasionally, but only when I’m tired.

i stayed off meds for about 6 months but then had to go back on them again as I had a relapse. However, I refused point blank to return to Venlafaxine as I hated being on it.

Stick with the waithdrawal if you can stand it. It’s definitely worth coming off as it’s a truly awful drug - in my opinion.

Liz-I’ve been told not to read too many online comments but I can’t help it.   Just curious (because  I’ve just started it) why do you say it’s an awful drug?   I’m so early on it right now on 75 mg’s ( mostly for anxiety) & so it’s too early for me to feel any benefit from it

Thanks Karen!  I know it’s going to take some time for me yet.  I’m just scared from all the bad things I read.  How many mg’s are you on? I also know 3 people on it & they love it.  I’m just a full blown anxiety mess right now.

Best of luck to you. Hope you continue to feel well!

    Hi

Yes you will receive tiny shocks. This is your brain activity changing from the long term use of Ven.

You may well end up going back on a very small dose to wean yourself off slowly rather than in one hit.

It has been proven a very difficult drug to reduce. But if done properly and with support from family then it is achievable.

    Hello,

I was on this stuff for 3 years.. I just "tapered " down.. 2 days after my last pill I find that among other scary side effects, the one that is driving me mad is the sound I hear when my eyes look left or right.. it's a clicking sound.. not a shock but s definite feeling.. did you?

Everybody in here is right, it is truly a bad drug, the side effects seem worse than the "reason" I got on them

. I can t really remember why I needed this stuff. I'll probably get kicked off this site by the pharmaceutical men in black😎
