I have finished all my medication and the smell won't go away

I currently have an infection because my gynaecologist told me so but she didn't specify whether it was BV or a yeast infection. She just told me I had an infection but I am assuming it BV because I have been doing a lot of research. The first day my discharge was very milky and it was a lot, I was actually freaking out. And the second day my symptoms were cottage cheese like discharge, a lot of itchiness and there was also a strong odor. The first few days the smell was really strong and over time it started to fade and so did the other symptoms, maybe because I got my period during, I'm not sure. It's been a few days since I've finished my medication (which was flagyl vaginal suppository-10 day course ) the itchiness and the discharge are gone but the smell is still there. And it bothers me a lot , I want to return to my regular smell. Now I don't know if I should wait it out a bit longer for the smell to clear, or if I should return to my gynaecologist. I am really insecure and i just want it to be over with.
