Hello

So I have been having pain in my pelvic area for the past week that has got progressively worse! I have previous history of recurrent miscarriages and have also suffered from pelvic inflammatory disease so just thought maybe it was something going on down there until I started experiencing dizziness, headaches, nausea, pins and needles in my hands and arm, pain in my breast and the pain started going under my ribs!! So I went to my GP who sent me for blood test basically testing everything thyroid, diabetes (I fasted for this) hormones ect.

Te results came back on Friday with high hormone level, prolactin levels and low folate levels. She has requested I get an ultrasound scan in the week but over this weekend the pain became worse and started to spread to my back!! So I went to the out of hours today who did a urine sample that showed high levels of glucose in my urin, high PH and white blood cells?? So if I'm not diabetic as my blood glucose levels were fine could this mean something is wrong with my kidneys? I have googled my symptoms and after diabetes it's kidney disease, does anyone know anything about this? Or had the same?

    Hi nikki02206

I have Diabetes type 2 and the Glucose in your urine is usually called Keytones. Despite the fact I have had diabetes for 10 years I have never had Keytones. But you have and this is a sign of diabetes. If your Blood Glucose was normal that would be because it was a fasting test. Every time you eat (and that includes everyone whether they have diabetes or not)  your blood glucose rises then around 2 hours after eating it starts to lower itself again. That includes any drinks you may have like cans of Coke or other fizzy drinks.  Now I also have stage 4 Renal Failure, my kidney fuction is only 23%  you have internal organs at the front of your body as well as at the back and your kidneys are in the middle. One on each side above waist level so I don't think it is a kidney problem. You could try drinking more water that flushes toxins out of your kidneys and may help to lower the keytones in your urine.  But best to keep an eye on both of these. Were you asked to fast before getting tested or did you just do that yourself if so it may have been better for you to eat normally before going to the hospital, that way you would have gotten a true reading.  Diabetics only fast first thing in the morning and do a finger test to get a reading of how high or low there BG is then check before each meal and 2 hours after.  Obviously wait until the hospital has completed all their testing and results have come back. But either of these conditions should not have you experiencing dizziness, headaches, nausea, pins and needles in hands and arms or pains in your breast. Something else seems to be going on and I sincerely hope you get answers soon and that what I have said gives you an insight into diabetes and kidney problems (which I don't think you have) let me know how you get on when the results come in.

Thank you for reading and getting back to me.

Yes I was told that I must fast for 10 hours before my diabetes blood test and the results came back that my glucose levels were normal, but I was showing signs of producing milk (which would explain the breast pain) but no explaination to why I'm producing milk as I'm not pregnant! And also my hormone level was high?

The reason I thought it was kidney problems was the pains and the fact that as well as glucose there was also high PH levels and white blood cells in my urine.
