I HAVE HAD LEG AND TOE CRAMPS ON AND OFF FOR SOME TIME, BUT IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS THIS HAS GOTTEN ALMOST UNBEARABLE. I MAY GET 2 HOURS SLEEP AT NIGHT. MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED QUININE. IT DOESN'T EVEN PHASE THE CRAMPS. MY CRAMPS ARE NOT IN THE CALF OF MY LEGS, THEY ARE ON THE OUTSIDE UP AND DOWN THE LEGS AS WELL AS MY ANKLES AND TOES. I STAY SORE AND IRRITABLE. ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANYONE WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED. I HAVE WONDERED IF THIS IS MY LIGAMENTS OR MUSCLES.

I now wear flight socks each day which support the legs and feet, keeps the circulation in good order, and are warm and comfortable.

After suffering for 6 years I no longer cramp. Cramp happens when the muscle is not receiving enough oxygen so stopping smoking is a must and starting excercising to get the blood circulating in a healthy way are all wonderful.

I don't have much faith in doctors. They are all too busy to care. I have the same thing as you. Only occasionally are the pains in the calf of my legs anymore as they were for years. Now

they are like yours, plus the fact that it feels like an invisible

force is trying to twist my foot off from my leg. It is excruciatingly awful pain and it wakes me two, three, four times

at night. But I will have it for a few days and it will cease for a few days. And then it starts all over again, everynight for a

week or so. I had thought since I was eating a banana every day (which I hate) that the lack of potassium in my body was too low,

and the banana was helping. But that was not it, because it came

back, again and again. I took quinine that the doctor gave me, but it didn't agree with me. I now have the cramps in my hands too, for the last month or so. Is there a name for this condition, do you know? If you have any more information on this "disease" (such as, is it a precursor to Parkinson's, or some other debilitating disease, please let me know and if you answer this message, I will

keep your e-m address and let you know also. Thanks so much.

I often wonder why the Meds have not done more research into this condition.

I found this site by doing a search on Google and after reading quite a bit, it seems like its a condition I have to live with.

My kingdom for a good nights sleep.
