I have had nasal problems all my life

From as long as I can remember I have had problems with properly breathing out my nose. I was told by a GP that I had chronic rhinitis when I was quite young and throughout my life have had bouts of sinusitis and other issues.

I first went to my doctor 2 years because my nose was always irritated and sore and he said that i have a deviated septum on my right side and referred me to an ENT specialist - I eventually got an appointment and he confirmed that I did have a deviated septum but did absolutely no other tests on me all he be gave me was nasonex and sent me on my way so now 2 years later i am still having problems. I'm getting a lot of pressure on the bridge of my nose especially at night and the weather makes things so much worse and I have bad headaches and start feeling ill just going about my daily life. I have also feel spaced out all the time and my head just feels tight.

I have been back to my doctor and asked him to refer me back to the hospital as I can't continue feeling like this i just hope he will do the tests to find out exactly what's happening up there this time and not fob me off this time.

My doctor gave me nasonex to try again but it doesn't help so I'm going to have to decide whether to go back and try something else or just wait till I get an appointment. Should I try something else while I am waiting?

Hi Suzanne, Hope this helps & it's different for everyone but My friend had about the same problems with her nose. She went to an ENT who also knew reconstructive surgery to help with symptoms. That seemed to help. She had surgery & is doing good. Sometimes they have to adjust or do reconstruct to make it better & sprays just aren't enough sometimes but can help just depends. Still has nose problems but not as bad. I would get a 2nd opinion & research all optionssmile steaming helps with the pressure & Tea & honey. I've tried black tea, honey, dash of cayenne pepper, pepper, ginger, turmeric with dash of milk & it's helpful. Another is organic apple cider vinegar which helps with a lot of pressure also. Take 2 ounces of h2o & start at 1 tsp & mix can put a dash of baking soda for taste let it fizz first then drink following with h2o. Again ask Dr to make sure your not allergic to as mentioned above.

      Hi Jill,

Thanks for the reply to my post.

At the moment I need to find out exactly what is going on and weather it's just my deviated septum causing problems.

I am currently experiencing sinus problems at the moment ie I think I have a sinus infection which I have had in the past. I have had sinus pressure and headache for 4 days now and post nasal drip I'm going to wait until the end of the week to see if it shifts by itself before deciding whether to go and see my doctor I also need to speak to him about nasonex as it done nothing but while im wait for my ENT appointment trying something else wont do any harm.

Did your friend have septoplasty I have considered it if it helps with not being prone to getting all those respiratory infections.
