I have had swollen parotid glands now for about a year and a half. No fever, dicharge, etc.; they seem to flair up when I eat dairy products.

When I am very careful with my diet and exclude all things dairy, which is very hard to do because hidden milk is everywhere, the swelling goes down considerably to where it is not noticeable. I am currently in my late 30's and have always had an allergy to milk products that caused symptoms like stuffy, runny nose, itchiness in my ears, post nasal drip and skin irritation to name a few symptoms. All the specialist I have been to are clueless and I was just wondering had anyone else experienced something similar?

Hi, I, also, have had swollen parotid glands for 5 years. I am 41 years old. I've been to all doctors. I have had an MRI and showed no tumor. Last year, I was diagnosed with Sjogrens syndrome by a Rheumatologist. He put me on Hydroxychloroquine for about 5 months. Although some of the pain went away, the swelling never went down. He said some people stay on this mdeicine for years. I didn't like that, so I took myself off it. He said it probably come back which it does now and then, the pain that is. Do you know of other things I can do? I'd like to stay in touch.

Hi, about a week ago my gland on the right side of my neck, throat or close to became swollen almost to the size of an egg. I went to the ER they told me to suck on a sour lemon drop,,,that made it worse. I went to my Dr. and to an ENT they both told me the same thing that it probably is a stone passing. Well it went away for about a week, and then today while I was eating the pain and swelling came back, but it was different it seemed like sharp glass going through my gland. It only seems to happen when I eat, even chicken broth. They have not done any X-Rays yet but Iam going tomorrow. It is really starting to bother me. Any suggestions?

I have similar problem, pain in left parotid gland. In addition, my left ear and neck on the left side pains badly. I am living with condition for six months now. Seen 4 different doctors and a dentist. My problem is not cured. Now I am taking Prevacid as my doctor is trying to cure acid reflex (GERD) as he feels these symptoms may be related. So far it did not help. If any have experienced similar conditions please help. Survival becoming very difficult with my medical condition.

    Thanks..
