I have had this "friction burn" on my penis for a few months now, Not really sure what I should do.

A few weeks ago i went to the doctors because of a red rash on my penis not sure of what it was. He said it was friction burn because i hadn't been sexually active in a few months prior and had been masturbating around once a day. I've recently started hooking up with this girl and it gets worse and worse. I don't know if this is still friction burn and how to get rid of it. Should i just cold turkey not have sex/ masturbate for a few weeks? imageimage

I think this is something a Dermatologist may need to help you with. I would suggest it is something more than a friction issue.

Until this is fully cleared do not apply soap or any other form of body wash directly to your penis. Use running shower water (never hot) to clean the area - wash everywhere else on your body first then spend sometime rinsing the entire groin region.

When you dry your penis you are going to need to be careful as this could further damage the skin and delay recovery - you must ensure your penis and entire groin area is completely dry. Never share towels.

And yes, not masturbating or having sex will help the recovery process, but to be meaningful you may need to do this for 3 or 4 months or even longer for a complete recovery to take a place.

A dermatologist may suggest a steroid based medication and this may help speed up the entire recovery process

Forgot to ask, do you use any form of lube for masturbation?

What you can get is although you may have been using something for sometime the skin can reach a point where it can no longer deal with what is regularly applied to it.

This can be an accumulative thing - so you may use the same thing as a lube, but what the penile skin is trying to deal with is everything else it is in contact with; such as soap, shower gel, other forms of body wash and so on.

What do you mean by "conditioner" exactly?
