    Hi tim32886,

I have had my STAR ankle replacement for about 5 years now and have not had any issues with it. I have chronic swelling from so many surgeries but that is to be expected. I am planning on having my other ankle replaced with a STAR as well!

I do not have full range of motion in my replaced ankle. But I did not have much range of motion before due to arthritis so I am thrilled with what I got! I did go back to my old job and have not had any issues. Good luck to you!

If you don’t mind me asking, at what age were your replacements?

My hubby is 79 and has been shot down by one surgeon. We go next week for a second opinion.

      Thank you

      Hi stephanie 60857,

I had my first replacement 5 years ago and was 34 years old at the time. It took a bit for them to say yes due to my young age. I go in today to see if I am able to have a replacement in my left ankle to match right. I am fighting against having a fusion also due to my young age. Each Doctor is so different in what they will and will not do so go on several different second opinion appointments to help ease your mind. Today will be my third opinion.

That's great u could go back to work. I was fired from mine because the first replacement went bad and couldn't return to work after 6 months. Yeah I had only worked there 22 years so it wasn't that big of a deal lol

Yes, I will be at each appointment. He’s not comfortable behind the wheel.
