I have had worsening symptoms that are affecting my life, what is it?

Hi,

I am a 21 year old female, 5'2, white ethnicity.

At roughly the age of 17, I began experiencing dizziness (mainly when I stood up fast), and would see stars, and have to take a minute or two before I regained my posture, this was quite mild and did not affect my life.

Forward to recent months, the dizziness has been accompanied with headaches, small (and very infrequent) nosebleeds, and extreme fatigue.

I decided to play this off as my usual dizziness, and tiredness from work. However, the fatigue and lightheadedness started to affect my relationship, work, and many other aspects of my life as I could not stay awake without napping at least once throughout the day, and falling asleep at roughly 9-10pm, despite waking up at roughly 9-10am that morning. I used to have an extremely high redolence for sleep, which is why this is now wrong feeling to me.

I had made a doctors appointment on the 4th of this month, to which I discovered I only had 15 minutes to try and explain everything; discovering I couldn't I decided to focus on only the major issues, however I felt this made me have to skip a lot of details.

A FBC was ordered, a thyroid function test, Vitamin-D test, Kidneys, and liver. All of the results came back as normal aside from my Vitamin D level which was 22.1.

I was prescribed Colecalciferol 20,000unit capsules, twice a week, for 3 months.

Since my meeting with the doctor, my symptoms have severely worsened, and new ones appearing. At the time of meeting the doctor, my appetite was normal, though now I have little to no appetite, due to the constant nausea that I am experiencing daily, and my weight has dropped approx. 3kg in little over a week, which is very unusual for my body as I always found it difficult to loose weight (however I am not overweight)

This new symptom has been accompanied by the usual fatigue, dizziness, and now lower back aches and extremely bad muscle weakness, I get short of breath while walking (though I am a smoker, roughly 6-10 cigarettes a day), and have to sit down after only moments of walking. My concentration also appears to be slightly off, as I find myself thinking hard about simple things that I once found easy. Lastly I am now having daily night sweats, and what I could describe "hot flushes" throughout the day, and slightly feverish (though I cannot check my temperature as I do not have the tools.)

I believe I have remembered all of the symptoms, though my head is not very clear.

I am happy to answer any queries.

Thank you.

don't trust the doctors, they are often useless.

think back, at 17, what happened to you? did you ...

    travel somewhere? exotic locations? abroad?

    experience some type of trauma?

sexual encounters with people you don't know?

    prolonged stress?

Your initial symptoms sound like POTS. Search for that and see if it matches.

I do try to believe in them as they have the medical knowledge, however I feel it is very stressful when they tend to blow off most symptoms, also in my case, the doctor didn't even have the time to hear everything.

The only thing I can think of is roughly at 16 I began the birth control Depo-Provera, and a few months into that the dizziness began, and I stopped it immediately, but it stuck ever since.

The only thing in POTS that I do not experience that might be a large factor is the heart palpitations.

I should also mention, my partner recently got diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, after a doctor decided he only need Folic Acid tablets, which is another reason I do not trust doctors, as he had to beg to get a x-ray or scan, and it revealed he did have cancer.

I do not think my situation is that bad, however I do know my body is very wrong, and I need relief, and I truly believe it is not just a small Vitamin D Deficiency.

Vitamin D Deficiency is an example of the only kind of things doctors are capable of doing. What they are not trained to do, is ask the question and find out WHY Vitamin D is deficient. Unless we find that taking D3 won't help you.

Interesting, dizziness is a known side effect of Depo-Provera.

What do you do as a profession? or are you a student?

Do you go outdoors much? Would you describe your life as active? Are you overweight? underweight? regular?

Did you change your diet in a major way at some point in your life?

Also, get your partner to check your body, head to toe. Check for rashes or any other kind of skin abnormalities.

My profession is a housekeeper at a hotel. It is a physical job, however during my months working there it has not had an impact on my weight, only now, it is dropping by nearly half a kg a day, which is extreme for my body as it never looses weight this fast, I also know it is not due to my job as I am now as slow as ever as my energy is at its lowest, and my muscles and lower back ache.

I do go outdoors to travel to and from work, and outside during my breaks, so I am getting plenty of fresh air and natural Vitamin D aswell.

I did have a time in my life where I was a typical teenager who fluctuated their diet every now and then, some healthier than others (such as cutting down calories wrongly), but other than that no major diets.

Though now I am barely able to gather the strength and appetite to eat anything, though I am forcing myself as I am sure this would only be bad for me, and not help the case of the bizzare amounts of weight I am loosing.

Finally I do have a skin condition called Pityriasis Versicolor, which my mother has, I developed this from what I can remember in my early teens. I have self treated it for years with Sudocrem as I found that worked great, though it does come back every few months, nothing triggers it, it just eventually comes back. I know there are creams for this and I am looking to get some eventually, however it does not affect my physically aside from being itchy and an eyesore when it gets bad, aside from that, nothing else, other than random bruises that have been appearing on my body recently with no source of why.

Is it possible for you to stop smoking cigarette?

Do you drink coffee too? If so, could you stop? In fact, don't drink anything but water for a week and see if that has any impact.

      Drugs? Alcohol? Quit them all.

Stop taking Colecalciferol and see if your appetite comes back.

Have you noticed anything that you do, makes your body feels healthy? For example, does it feel better if you were to take a vacation somewhere else for a week?

On diet, do you eat meat? dairy? gluten? What makes you feel good when you eat? are you bloated? is your tummy flat?

are your symptoms seasonal? do they fluctuate with weather changes?

by the way, is your BP on the low side? maybe 70/90?

It could be a biotoxin illness. Is there any mold in your house or have you been exposed to mold recently?

It would probably be a good idea to get tested for Lyme disease too.

I haven't been exposed to any toxins, fortunately. I also have no rashes that relate to Lyme disease, but then again the doctor did not even check my body for anything, he just ordered bloods.

Hi Sarah, you dont say how old you are now, have you had children, are you very tall, you say your not overweight but are you under, do you eat a good diet, do you exercise regularly, what is your job is it sitting all day.

Vitamin d deficiency can make you feel quite rough, i know i also have it and like you i am taking large amounts daily, are your periods heavy.

      How's your BP

lot's of questions but it gives me a clearer picture

Not everyone with Lyme will have a rash, also it would be very difficult to know if you have been exposed to toxins. It can be mold at school, work or home. Can be certain fungal, or bacteria. I agree with Josh, I would look into Lyme or Biotoxin Illness

I am 21 years old, no children, 5'2, I believe I am in the normal range of weight, currently 61.7kg, but this was 64.6kg only just over a week ago, thus my concerns on the very fast and abnormal weight loss. Before the nausea started and loss of appetite I had a balanced diet, now I basically have to force myself to eat throughout the day, as it would not aid my currently weight dropping so fast. I can no longer do as much physical activity as my muscles ache and my energy is zero to none. My profession is a housekeeper at a hotel. It is a physical job, however during my months working there it has not had an impact on my weight, only now, it is dropping by nearly half a kg a day, which is extreme for my body as it never looses weight this fast.

I would like to believe that Vitamin D Deficiency is my only issue, but considering it is not an extreme deficiency (22.1), that is where my concerns come from with all these current symptoms. I have average periods.

Feel free to ask more, I am very happy to answer to try and figure this out.

That is very true, I guess I am just trying to think of my current life and what I am surrounded by.

The only issue is that it is hard enough to tell my doctor my current symptoms with the 15 minutes I am given (and it takes over a month to book again), let alone try to explain to him ideas I have about it or request certain tests. I am seeing him again on the 26th of this month relating to the Vitamin D deficiency at his request, but I am going to try and tell him my new concerns.

do you use any harsh chemicals while cleaning? Your symptoms could be the start of a chemical sensitivity. I'm not talking about an allergy. Your body might be slowly becoming poisoned from the chemicals in the cleaners you use. Chemical toxicity does not always show symptoms of an allergic reaction.

My sister was suffering from the same, few months later of suffering from it she went to a doctor who treated her very well and now she's going very well. If you want some good you should visit your nearest doctor because only they can treat you well.
