I have huge fibroids and I don't want a hysterectomy. Can anyone recommend a Doctor in the Phx area

I would like a myomectomy. Can anyone recommend a good Doctor who can do this for me without doing a hysterectomy? Iam 53 so they always want to do that but I want to keep my uterus. I live in Gilbert Az but anywhere around the Phoenix area is good.

I am not in your state, however, look for an interventional radiologist. I had a uterine fibroid embolization in Oct 2017, and I am a year or so younger than yourself. My fibroids ranged from 2 - 13 cm, and so far all is going pretty well (they have shrunk and back to normal exercise for a while now). I found that the gynocologists do not recommend much aside from hysterectomies in my area.
I hope this helps somewhat. I know that you were asking for a doctor in your area, but not familiar with your state.
Good luck with your search and procedure once you get closer.

Hi Cindy. I am looking to schedule a UAE procedure, really curious what the recovery is/was like for you? Was it as painful as they doctors tell me it'll be? How long, may i ask, did you bleed for afterwards? Just trying to plan when to do this based on recovery. Thank you.

Hi!,Thankyou so much for your input. Is,that where pellets cut off the blood supply to the fibroid and it shrinks? I have a huge fibroid that out great it's blook supply so now it's hardened. What are the pellets made of and can theu travel around the body? What state are you living? Thanks for the feedback.

The pain was bearable for me at first because I had some meds at the hospital, but once I was unhooked, I would say uncomfortable for sure. Honestly, I only took 2 Ibuprofen and was fine. I went for a 10 minute walk outside my home the following afternoon. I went home the same day I had the procedure (my choice, doc thought I would have stayed since I was vomiting). I was vomiting because I ate nothing and the antinausea meds that they gave me did not work for me (needed to eat with the pill and was not interested in food). I went in to the procedure with a heavy period and barely bled. I did get my period a month later and what a pleasant surprise - very light. Oh I did need to wear pantyliners for a while. Hope that helps though I know a lot of people react differently.

Yes, the pellets cut off the blood supply and the fibroids shrink. My extra large fibroid shrunk enough that when I exercise it does not protrude any longer (my tummy does not look like it is 5 months pregnant). I do not remember what my doctor said the pellets are made out of, but she said that they stay in the uterine walls.
