I have just had Vnus Closure procedure my experience and how I got it paid by insurance.

I just thought I would share my experience. I am 37 years old and first noticed some varicose veins in the right leg at the age of 16 they slowly got worst and I then had some in the left leg. they caused me aching, itching and cramps plus I hated the way they looked and thank god for the Maxi dress. I have been to the GP numerous times regarding my legs and all they could do was to offer me compression stockings which I did not end up wearing. Luckily I called my works health insurance Aviva and they asked me to release my medical records which I did and they agreed for me to have my treatments done privately. I had Vnus closure procedure last Monday to close down the vaulty valves in both my legs and had some Phlecbectomies to remove the bulging veins I had this all done at once and it took under an hour under general anestic and afterwards I walked 40 minutes home and have walked every day for an hour to two hours I love walking. I wore the compression stockings only for a week and I just have some bruises which are fading. I did try and get this done privately when my company was with Bupa but they would not pay the cost but Aviva are very good. My treatment was worth nearly £5,000 and I saw the best surgeon in London I feel very lucky and have already bought some new clothes to wear for my holiday in October.

    Hi buddy

I hope you are ok after the surgery. Have some questions. I have a vein on my right leg, I'm wearing the compression stocking, and it's fine then. I'm doing sports too...martial arts, love going to gym too. Thinking about the doing either the procedure you've done, or the sclerotherapy...but I've been told by my doctor, that there is a little chance to suffer from thrombosis afterwards. So I'm kinda scared to do it. And I'm afraid I would have to give up the sports I'm doing. What would you recommend? I know U R not a doc, but from your experience. I'm a 31yo male.

    Thanks.

    Stan007,

You need to make sure you select a physician who is dedicated to vein treatment. You should be able to fully participate in exercise within a week. We actually encourage walking immediately after the procedure and light exercise the day after is not bad. The treatment should take a half hour. I had my right leg down 3 years ago and played basketball 4 days later.

    Hi Vascularcme,

Did you have any pain after Phlecbectomies?

Could you tell please, who was your surgeon or which clinic have you used?

    Was it in London?

    Thanks

Hi Happy2013...is the VNUS procedure to close off and get rid of thread veins? Im so confused and anxious as i have been told i have thrombophlebitis by the doctor but a specialist thinks not. i have stinging pain in veins behind my knees and my sapheous vein on one inside was and sometimes is hard and painful. i have had two ultrasounds and blood tests and they all.say no clots but Im so worried that i might get one as the stinging pain keeps coming back! i also have wierd aching pains that appear in my legs arms, wrists and once a fi germ. the only thing the specialist said i could do is get rid of thread veins but that s just for vanity reasons! i have had thread veins for years plus a varicous veins on one leg Thats never given me much bother. Im. 29 am not over weight and Dont smoke and i do exercise. however i am on my feet a lot at work. i have not had a baby or been pregnant. does anyone have any idea what this could be?! and what treatment i should be asking for at all? thanks guys!
