    Hi

I have got MRSA in my ear as well. It is hell. I have been suffering with infected ears for 14 months (Otitis externa or something). Have just been told it is MRSA. I'm slightly older than you at 35, this was something that was meant to affect older and immune compromised people etc. It seems to be spreading into the general population, as we are not the only adults contracting this superbug, if you've read other forums. I got my first infection after a short stay in hospital...

Am trying to find out as much info as possible, some of it so far has not made pleasant reading. The worst of it is of the infection affecting the mastoid bone and of the infection getting into the brain. So I am not the happiest at the moment!

Good luck with your trip to the infectious doctor, I hope he treats you well and gets you better.

Hi Emma I do not have MRSA but I am due to go into hospital for an operation this tuesday and I am petrified. I am 22 and I have just been cured of cervital cancer so my immune system is quite poor and I usually pick up anything. I had food poisoning twice when I had cancer and I know my body is weak. I am afraid. I want to explain to the nurses and tell them to wash their hands and make sure they do it infront of me before touching me but I know that most will ignore this and treat me as though I am an awkward patient. I am really frightened. What should I do?

    hiya

i understand your anxiety at going into hospital especially as you are immuno-suppressed! MRSA is ususally found up people noses in a percentage of the general population and is a infection that is not exclusive to the hospital setting! I am sure if you ask the nurses to wash thier hands they will, and wont ignore you as they know they have a duty of care towards you!
