I have no motivation to carry on trying

Hi,
This is the first time I am trying this so, please be patient with me.
I have been battling low moods and depressive behaviours for years now and although I have never been formally diagnosed or treated for it, I have been going to therapy for years.
Due to major life changes lately (cheers, Covid) I have found myself being drawn back in bouts of low mood, irritation and hopelessness.
I am feeling extremely lonely in this, I can't find the courage or the nerves to open up to people, and all I want is to crawl in bed and just switch off.
Just sharing this here, hoping to find some understanding - I don't like feeling so alone in this.
Any encouraging words, would help x

dafnie I am so glad you reached out to this forum. Depression is a very lonely sad place to be. I know the feeling and so do a lot of people here. unfortunately so have millions of people all over the world.
so no doctor has ever suggested any medication for you?I wonder why they haven’t. I know that it may not work for everybody but it’s worth a try. is there anything that happened in your life in the past that may have caused the depression? And you don’t have to tell us if you don’t feel comfortable. even though you say you don’t have the courage to open up to people, it’s most likely one of the best things you could do. The worst thing would be to bottle everything up and just keep to yourself because that makes the depression worse. People are meant to have community with one another and help each other. Whether it’s talking to a counselor or family, friends, etc.
you deserve to have all the opportunities possible to help you live a peaceful, joyful and happy life.
sometimes people feel that depression is their fault, but it’s not!
There are people like myself who are born with a predisposition to depression and anxiety. It’s the same is when somebody is born with a certain disease or mental or physical challenge.
it’s nobody’s fault. But there are ways to help people in any situation and there’s a lot of resources available.
Tell us more about how we could help you. Do you just need someone to listen? Someone to offer suggestions?
You are definitely not alone in this! Many people suffer with depression. We are here for you! That’s for sure!
