I have no period and im 18

Im 18 and I first got my period around 13 years old and there were times when I had 3 or 4 months of normal, once a month period, but then it would stop for half a year or one year, then again, my cycle randomly appeared one or two months and stop. During these 5 years i had around 10 or 15 periods and the last one was about 8 months ago. My health seems to be just fine, i dont feel like something is wrong with me. I had my hormonal lab test done a couple of years ago and it was fine, too. I know i probably need to go a gynecologist, but i want to know if anyone has had such an experience and if it's something that i should really be worried about.

hi! irregular periods or no periods at all is a very common sign of polycystic ovary syndrome. With polycystic ovaries, sometimes you do not ovulate, hence the reason for missed periods, and irregular periods. it can also cause weight gain, more hair growth than usual like around your nipples, your top lip etc, but i guess this is different for everyone as i have 1 polycystic ovary but i do not have the syndrome so i don't get these symptoms. i might be wrong but i think its worth going to see a gynaecologist about it as its not normal. try not to worry too much however! if something were to be wrong there are alot of things they can do for you like medication to make you ovulate etc. problems with your thyroid can also cause irregular periods, but like i say! try not to worry too much and book an appointment smile

    best wishes x

Are you underweight? Or very stressed?

Well stress can definitely muck your periods up. It wouldn’t hurt to get some more blood tests to see what your hormones are doing. Are you insulin resistant? If you don’t know you could ask for a blood test for that, it takes about 2 hours to do that one though, look it up. Do you notice certain foods or drink make you put on weight? Like sugary foods or alcohol?
