I have pain on vulva; diagnosed with lichen sclerosis; told MonaLisa Touch will help

Hi I am new to this site and hope it can help.  I have had vulvic pain for more than a year, my Gyn in Florida has told me to try the Mona Lisa Touch to regenerate new skin on my vulva instead of using steroid cream which thins the skin. Since it is very expensive I would like feedback from women who have tried this. I am not so interested in the regeneration of the vagina since I do not have sex and am more interested in stopping the daily pain that keeps me from most activities. I am 74.

The Mona Lisa Touch procedure will not stop the LS. The steroid is still necessary. The LS makes the vulva skin thicken and dry like a desert it was explained to me so the steroid keeps the skin was thickening. I have had the ML and I think the skin was improved. But my doctor explained the best medical advise is that LS must continue to be treated. Twice or three times a week as regular maintenance to keep symptoms away. Also every day I use a moisturizer such as Aquaphor or coconut oil or vitamin E. hope this is helpful and you can trust your physician. I truly believe the steroid is the best answer to keep LS from progressing. And moisturize a lot and cotton underwear and no pants that rub the vulva to keep it from getting sore. 🙂

Thanks for your info specially to try the moisurizers. my dr said no steroid right now since I seem to have tears in my vulva and she doesn't want to thin the skin any more(when I urinate it makes the vulva sting and she has me using a water bottle spray to dilute it) and i will ask her about your comment that the LS makes the skin thicken - so are the tears due to dryness or thin skin? She just told me to put hormone cream on the vulva two times a day.  I have been suffering from this for over two years and at one time did use the steriod cream and it helped but the doctor told me to stop since long term it would thin the skin too much. I too wear only cotton pants and try not to sit for too long.

I have had one treatment Mona Lisa touch you really cannot tell the results until you have about five treatments done most people are so happy with it and yes they do not use steroids I have never used to Lloyd's so I thought that the MLT would be a great alternative I really like my doctor and I know of one other lady that has had it done and she loved it she was even able to have sex now and she's just thrilled she recommended this doctor

I do not believe in steroids I have a very mild case of LS so I treat my LS holistically steroids eventually cause atrophy they are not a cure they are a topical treatment pacifier

Hi Cheryl, can you advise which holistic treatments are working for you. I'm looking for a good healing moisturizer. Thanks.

I would love to know what holistic treatments you have tried and what results you have had.  I know from my experience already that while the steriods will help for a while they are not a long term solution.

what is the 'Lloyds' you referred to?
