I have phimosis

I've had a tight foreskin for my whole life and a few months ago I went to the doctors with it and he looked at it and prescribed some creme which I knew would do absolutely nothing which I even told him asking him if I could skip that as it was pointless because I didn't want to go through stretching it because of how long it would take, I knew I wanted to be circumcised but he said it was procedure and I have to try the creme for 2 weeks and it didn't work then he could get me circumcised, so I did what he said with the creme applying it every day then went back for him to just refer me to a specialist, he said I'd get a letter in the post with a number to book an appointment, I tried to book the appointment and there was a waiting list and I've been waiting ever since, it's been months now since I first went to the doctors and I still haven't even seen somebody who is qualified to help me (this is on the NHS I can't afford private) honestly I don't know what to do I'm still waiting and it's ruining my life I can't have sex or get a girl friend until this is sorted and I'm worried when I finally get to see this specialist I'm gonna be waiting for ever to get the procedure done if at all is there any way I can get it done quicker I've been thinking about getting an emergency appointment and telling them it's causing me a lot of pain is there anything I can do to speed this up because honestly it's affected my confidence so much I don't want to leave my house in case case my friends want to meet girls which I'll have to turn down which will make it seem like there's something wrong and it's really getting me down

What age are you Jamie? I wonder why you are so certain that you simply want to be circumcised, and certainly, trying to stretch the foreskin is not an option for you? Yes, you have mentioned the time it takes to do the stretches successfully - was there any other reason other than this?

You seem quite on-edge about the potential issues of meeting girls and all the issues that may go with that. I am not getting at you in any way as a person, but I wonder if you are sure that once you recover from having been circumcised that everything, in terms of relationships with girls is suddenly going to be completely different, or in some way better? Yes, there will be the 'novelty' factor that you will have been circumcised, and girls may be quite eager to check you out, in comparison to your non-circumcised friends. But are you sure circumcision will result in a completely different way of thinking about yourself in terms of sexual, and potential loving relationships?

If you look at it this way, there are still many countries across the world today where young men will be in the same situation as you, or potentially worse, in terms of how their penis looks, or specifically, the inability of their foreskin to function as a so called 'normal' foreskin would function. Yet they have no access to health care as we do here in the UK - they simply have to get on with how their penis is and always will be.

Men throughout the ages have faced these issues, yet they still have had loving and sexually satisfying relationships.

You are aware of the pluses and minuses of having circumcision? It will be pointed out to you that any surgery has at least some risk factors, and there could be unintended complications as a result of the circumcision being done .......

I can relate to this because when I was much younger I had this issue my foreskin could not be pulled back it was very painful I went to the Dr and he advised circumcision.

Lance, perhaps you can reply to Jamie direct and let him know what you did in the situation you were in and how it was resolved. If you are in the UK and know how the NHS can help, given Jamie's situation, that would be even better ......

And yes, severe phimosis is something I had when I was 16 / 17 YOA and I resolved my own through stretching - this took many months and I used to help with the stretching was an antiseptic skin cream.

    Hi,

I would advise you to try stretching the foreskin naturally rather than going for the option of circumcision. I feel like that is a last measure, usually there is no need to be circumcised. Instead, you can just deal with the problem more easily.

    Just a personal opinion.

I had the exact same problem from age 12 upwards. I paid a visit to the doctors when I was 17 who said to stretch it and it would eventually retract when erect. It took years of practice until it rolled back with no pain at all but nowadays mine works fine.
