I have RA been having side effects

I have been taking plaquenil for RA FOR 8 WEEKS .I think that I am getting bad side effects from it .Has anybody heard of getting depression from it ? This makes the second time I have taken it .the first time I lost hair had a bad discharge and really bad gas .I quit taking it

I decided to try it again but I don't want bad side effects

    I exerienced nausea and bloating so I started taking it after dinner and these symptoms improved. I also rely on mylanta it has become my new friend! It did work for me so good luck!

    I take Plaquenil and sometimes have gas and bloating too but haven't put it down to the meds, talk it over with your Specialist as there maybe an alternative drug or can run tests to make sure it's Plaquenil causing the problems. Good luck.

    Hi, I've been on Plaquenil for about 7 years after initially starting on Methotrexate which I really couldn't tolerate. So far my RA seems to be managed well and I have been ok on it too. I do know it has really changed the colour of my hair but I'm not so sure if I can blame it for other symptoms I have experienced as I am also on a few other meds. Its difficult to know what med is causing what side effect unless something is stopped and that particular symptom then goes away. I get a lot of bad heads but nearly all of the meds list headaches as a possible side effect. I also have bloating, gas, sometimes nausea and feel very low at times though feeling depressed seems to be a common symptom of having RA. I'm due to see my rheumatologist very soon and have some questions for him. Hopefully I might get some answers. I would definitely give Plaquenil a bit longer and see how things go because I think it's one of the drugs with less side effects. Good luck.

    Sorry I haven't tried this drug but Depression and anxiety are both

    Symptoms of the disease. Speak to your GP about this asap .

    It will really help. This decease is a nightmare and he/she can help

    you with this .
