I have been on humira 150mg injections fortnightly for 2 years now. Has really worked well for me with a low dose of methotrexate. No side effects. Anyone else out there with a similar experience of this drug?

I havent tried this drug but from what i read from the UK and USA medical resources, biologics are transforming P & PA treatment. How quickly did this drug work for you and why he combination? Has your Dr given you any indication of how long you can take this, hopefully indefinately with such good results.

The MTX is to prevent anti-body formation.

For some people the MTX and Humira seems to work a long time. Others for a while. Others a short while. Others not at all.

I had been on MTX alone for 20 years. When Humira was added I saw significant results in three weeks.

      Experience is different for everyone.

In the US MTX plus a biologic is the way they want to treat it. Sadly, due to the expensive cost of the biologic [about $30,000 USD per year] most insurance companies make you "fail" other cheaper drugs first.

Suggestion to those of you in the UK:  you really have to push your GP's into getting you to a rheumatologist at the first sign of disease AND push to get on the biologic. I've read far, far too many posts on this forum for PsA and RA where patients just go along with the minimal treatment their GP's give them. Sad.

Hi I have also been on Humira for 3.5 years and it works great. Price is high but worth it. Only issue I have is winter time I get flare ups but manageable with a steroid cream also my skin still has that reddish look. Anyone have any ideas to help with this.

I have used Humira for about 3 years and it was prescribed for psoriasis. The rheumatologist diagnosed me with psoriatic arthritis about 2 years ago. In April she put me on methotrexate and I had wonderful pain relief for the 7 weeks that I took it. During the 7th week I developed an eye infection that I had for the past 3 weeks plus a small scratch on my skin also developed infection so I haven't taken the methotrexate again. I had bloodwork done after I got up to the maximum dose and I got a message from the Dr to reduce the dosage. I see her next week and will let her know that I had great pain relief but my immunity was just too compromised. I expect that she will tell me that I'm okay to take the reduced dosage but I don't want to chance getting more infections. It's unfortunate, as I had pain relief by the fourth week.
