Maybe you should  go back and tell them its really painful. It shouldnt be rubbing like that. Maybe they put it on too tight?

The staples hurt a bit anyways when they come out, but most of them are loose when removed.

If they are bothering you so much, I would suggest contacting your dr to try to get the staples out sooner.

Just bite the bullet and go get it checked. They need to see what's going on and it sounds like the swelling has reduced if it is now loose. So that is a good sign. But movement if cast will rub it. Don't delay.. keep us up to date. Thinking of you x

Hi there, I had the exact same problem. A week after surgery my swelling had reduced to the point where the "cast" (was a plaster splint really, not the fiberglass cast) was loose and hanging on my ankle. I could feel the staples were rubbing against the gauze on the inside and went back to see the doctor 1 week post-op. They removed the splint and pulled the staples out (which did hurt a little, like mosquito bites). They then put me in a fiberglass cast and it felt SO much better. The cast was tight on my ankle and there wasn't room for it to rub against the inside.
