What do you mean by indigestion?

When I stopped dexilant, I had stomach pain. DGL licorice calmed the pain. I now take it 20 minutes before eeach meal and just before bed.

lot of acid, stomach hurting and bringing a lot a wind up. Tried Milk and Remogel. What is DGL licorice and where would I get it from please?

You can get DGL licorice in tabs on amazon or in health food stores. DGL licorice is the root of the plant licorice from which they remove the glycyrrhizin which is toxic. It works very well for me for stomach pain after stopping the PPI and has no side effect.

Prelief helped me too for the excess acid, you must take it with a meal, 1-2 caps. It is made of calcium glycerophosphate. It absorbs the acidity without making your stomach produce more acid.

And finally I find the low-acid diet recommended by Dr Koufman (in her book dropping acid) very helpful to avoid pain and for long term healing, except for the milk which makes my stomach produce more acid and the ginger root which I find irritating.

My thanks also Ines. I've been reading a lot about DGL licorice and wondered where I could get it.

You are welcome. I use the brand of DGL licorice natural factors. The ingredient list does not contain anything offensive, it works well and it tastes good too. Sometimes when I wake up at night and my stomach bothers me, I take one tab and goes back to sleep immediately. I have been taking it for almost two weeks with no problem at all (one 20-30 minutes before each meal and one before bed, sometimes one in the early morning if I wake up and do not feel so good).

I recommended prelief in my previous post but now I am conflicted about it. It does remove the acid but it caused me constipation too. My digestion really slowed down. Also I read somewhere that it might not be good for gastritis but I am not sure if this is true. It is hard to find information on this product, it is new. Many people are happy with it though as you can see in the reviews on amazon.

Among other things, I tried tums, but it gives only short time relief and then the acid is worse after. I think the stomach reacts. I don't feel so good with zantac either, it makes me dizzy, and I read that there is some rebound effect when you stop. Too bad it works very well for the acidity. Milk even though very alkaline makes the stomach produce more acid. I am trying slippery elm now and ordered mastic gum. I will let you know.

If you try something that works well, please let me know. And if you are cured, please let me know too. I am better but not completely cured yet and I would be very happy to hear some happy ending story.

Slippery Elm works great too! Its effect is similar as DGL licorice, they both coat the stomach lining to protect it. I just tried it today though, so I will be able to tell more after a few days.

After I started adding some herbs like sage, etc in my diet, my symptoms came back a bit more, so I stopped and eat bland again, and I am taking now one DGL licorice 20-30 minutes before each meal, and 2 capsules of slippery elm between meals and before bed (the recommended dose from nature's way was 4 capsules three times a day but I felt it was too much, it was giving me headache and I was feeling dehydrated even though I was drinking a lot).

I read that pepzin GI works very well too. Maybe I will give it a try. Supposedly it helps reduce the inflammation and 60% of people see some improvement after taking it twice a day (75mg total/day) for a week.

I just wanted to share that I have been taking pepzin GI for 2-3 days now and it works very well. I have no acid anymore half the time and much less pain. It has no side effects. For a while I was not having much pain anymore thanks to the DGL licorice but lately I was not feeling that I was progressing. With pepzin GI I feel that I am improving.
