I have suffered from acid reflux really bad for the past year

at the weekend i had a bad stomach bug and now my reflux is really bad that Omeprazole isn't doing anything to help. Will my stomach settle again given time or is this something new to add. I'm sipping on water and eating a banana in hopes of lowering it because if i can't then i feel that it is going to make me throw up all over again.

Any advice please?

Sorry you're experiencing that. During flares like this, I've made sure to cut out any foods/drinks like coffee, etc that can aggravate the reflux and I've also had to temporarily up my omeprazole dose from 20mg 1x/day to 2x/day or take an H2 blocker like ranitidine 150. I'm not a doctor, but have been dealing with acid reflux for years, so have been down this road.

thank you Jaybird13 I have had no issues with my reflux since i started taking Omeprazole in March last year, for me it was definitely my wonder drug. The food i have been eating is only bland food like toast, bananas and apples. I'm hoping the stomach bug has just temporarily disturbed my system because i really don't want to up medication.

thank you Gillian1956 I really don't want to up medication. At the moment I'm mainly eating toast, bananas and apples. I'm just hoping it will hurry up and settle down because I don't want this to be the start of a new problem.

Hi. I had acid reflux for 5 years. Common treatment do not solve my problem. Ultimately, doctors tell me the root of your problem is nervous. I came to the psychiatrist and after treating different medications, I finally got treated with "Nortriptyline".
