I have taken Rosuvastatin 10mg for several years, my cholesterol has been at a good constant level. I have recently an increase in my cholesterol and my GP 2 weeks ago increased my Rosuvastatin to 20mg.

I have experienced severe chest, arm & spinal pains, spent 3 days in hospital as an emergency case, undergoing tests, and all proving negative, i.e. Blood clot in the lung, heart attack and numerous blood tests and x rays

Since being discharged I consulted my GP who thinking the increased dose of Rosuvastatin may be the cause immediately stopped the drug.

I am still experiencing severe muscular and skeletal pain! Has anyone had the same symptoms?

8)Hi I have recently been put on Rosuvastatin 10 mgs as I had experienced bad leg cramps and tiredness whilst taking Lipitor for many years, to cut a long story short I found an American forum which is most helpful ( spacedoc )on statin damage, it is so informative and helpful. I now take 200mgs of co-enzyme Q10 each day as this replaces the enzyme that statins take out of the body, my severe cramps have now stopped but my legs are still heavy and uncomfortable, in time I am sure this will improve, I do hope this information is helpful and you can make up your own mind as to how to help yourself feel much better, Liz.:D

I am on crestor (rosuvastatin) for 6 weeks. I am feeling terrible all the time with chest pain muscle pain in arms and legs often down one side of body. i am feeling tired all the time feeling very weak with headaches and nausea. I have been treated for migraine with injections and have been admitted t a&e for tests for a suspected mild stroke which proved negative and I was fine. The medication is the cause of all my problems and I have stopped them untill i see my doctor. No one told me i could experience this and being a young mum it is very hard to go through your day. I have also high cholesterol through a heridary condition through family. sad

 Hi there. I take Lipitor and CQ10. I got a lot of leg cramp and after a day of keep having to hop out of the car to jiggle around barefoot in the road, I decided to force myself to eat a daily banana. The extra potassium seems to work and if I go for 2 days without one I can feel the toes starting to cramp.

I have a love/hate relationship with the statin. I think it is a wonder drug, but we are in need of one that does not give us cramp and muscle pain.

I now have daily hip pain and am blaming the statin. Yet for all I know it could be arthitis :o

I too had mild muscle pain on simvastatin, but when my doctor put me on Crestor 10mg I had severe pain in my shoulders, arms and hips after only two weeks.I also had tingling, numb feelings in my hands and feet.I was dropping things, and could hardly get out of bed in the mornings.I was told to stop taking the crestor but after 3 weeks nothing had improved so the doctor did some blood tests. He has diagnosed polymyalgia rheumatica and prescribed prednisolone 5mg x 3 daily. The pain was gone within 48 hours,it was like a miracle, however steroids also have serious side effects in the long run.I dont understand why the statin drugs agravated what was obviously a hidden underlying condition so badly, and am concerned that my FH cannot really be treated now,my TC is 9.9. One thing I have learned is that crestor is ten times stronger than simvastatin and I wonder whether a drug this strong is entirely neccessary? My doctors are not happy that I have decided to take my chances with the high cholesterol,I will not take statins again.I am learning a lot about nutrition on natural health sites, and am changing to a low carb diet ,cutting out sugars, flour, pasta and white rice and eating lean meat and healthy veg to see if that will help.My aunt, who initially had a TC of 15,can tolerate simvastatin 40mg,but she has recently lost 3 stones and her TC has dropped a further 2 points.Good luck !
