I have trouble with my hands jerking when i try to type and texting on the phone.

Do you think that the jerking can be caused by my medication? I take 180mg of Gabapentin a day perscribed by my doctor. It supposed to help the nervous system, not make it worse i thought.

Yes, I had this too. In fact, I had many very severe side effects taking Gabapentin which scared me so much that I’ve just stopped taking it. Gradually tapered over several months ( its dangerous just to stop taking it and MUST be done very slowly)
My speech became very disjointed and my brain seemed to be thinking one thing yet my mouth just couldn’t get my tongue around speech. Gabapentin affects the central nervous system and, in my case, it wasn’t for the better. I’d drop cups of hot tea or plates, misjudge where I was putting my feet or simply lose my balance.
Im now looking at finding more natural ways to deal with the conditions that put me on this drug in the first place and have decided to try using CBD oils. Cannabis but in its natural form with the compound that gives the “ high” removed. ( illegal anyway, but don’t want to feel high anyway....I just want the pain to subside and be able to function as normally as possible). Not for me to suggest what you may want to do but there are plenty of companies now selling CBD oils and vapes and they’re even on sale in Holland and Barrett now. I’m slowly beginning to feel a little better but the withdrawal from the Gabapentin isn’t pleasant so, if you did decide to go that route, may I suggest you research thoroughly first. There are Facebook support groups which can give you support and help. Good luck.

Hi Chris, Thank you for your advice about Gabapentin. I will monitor my self and see how i go. My doctor has raised the dose for me to take but i am still in so much pain. Some of it is arthritis but the pain killers don't touch it. Do you think i should talk to my doctor again? I feel i get now where. Jo.
