I have upcoming surgery in 5 days for peroneal nerve decompression due a bad hip replacement

I was told by the surgeon that they can't guarantee a good recovery because I am a smoker. I am doubting whether I should even have the surgery after reading everybody's comments on their surgery for nerve decompression

    I just had mine decompressed last week after a hip surgery that stretched my nerve.   Still dealing with the footdrop.  Do you have footdrop? and hows your recovery coming along?
