I haven’t had my period in a year due to PCOS and I’m bleeding. Advice needed.

I used to take birth control however I stopped using it. I have not had my period in over a year but I'll have light bleeding once or twice a month, but when I wipe it's completely gone. I'm now having the same light bleeding issue, and I do plan on going to the doctor but while I'm waiting for my appointment, what could be the cause of this? Am I having my period or could this be a bad issue?
