I hope and pray for everybody this works

Hello to all :D
Like so many people on here I was left undiagnosed for years (approx 10) and it was only by researching my symptoms on the net that I discovered my condition had a name! Oh joy! I'm sure everybody here knows the relief of being able to put a name to our hateful condition and realising that we are not on our own.
I have refused the long term antibiotics route - I sincerely believe that doctors just suggest this because they are at a loss to know what else to suggest.
I also believe that this condition can be caused/improved/cured by diet.
I have decided to try the gluten free route - a few people on here have said it worked for them.
I am also following Karen McLean’s advice (post subject: cure that worked for me, what have you got to lose?) and I am taking the 3 natural supplements as suggested by Karen (psyllium husks, silicae liquid and slippery elm bark, 1 teasp of each a day mixed together in juice - actually quite pleasant if mixed with a nice juice). These 3 ingredients will help regulate your gut, remove any harmful bacteria lurking there, help improve your digestion and your ability to assimilate foods and nutrients and generally improve your skin condition. I am also taking New Era calc-sulph no.3 tissue salts (homeopathic), specifically made to help with skin conditions such as acne (as we know our condition is also known as acne inversa and shares characteristics with classical acne).
I am going to follow this regime religiously for 6 weeks. I am keeping a detailed diary of everything I eat and taking photos 2/3 times a week. I really hope that this will cure my HS and I would so love to pass this onto others on here as a success. I started 1 week ago so it’s still early days.
At the end of 6 weeks, if the condition has improved (or hopefully vanished!), I intend to reintroduce gluten back into my diet slowly but still avoid wheat.
I think if this works I shall find a website or maybe even create a support website for people specifically with HS and post my diary and all my photos on there.
Wish me luck and stick together! If traditional medicine can’t help us then we will help ourselves!
Strength and courage to everybody on here who is suffering.

I have just today happened on your posted message.
I sincerely hope that the regime you have adopted is yielding results for you. As a fellow sufferer, I will follow your postings with interest.
Following a ten week antibiotic course, I am contemplating surgery in two weeks time.

Further to the first posting, I can now eat white bread - but as soon as I eat whole grains and seeds such as pumpkin, poppy etc. I get a fresh outbreak the next day! Avoid those 2 - and I am free and clear! Take a look at the new posting I put on today from Karen Kiwi. Do let me know how it goes. If it worked would be keen to help set up a site that details how we cured ourselves! Karen McLean (Kiwi)

I have just been to see someone else though at the hospital who has recommended some high dose zinc tablets. I'd be interested to hear if this has been recommended to anyone else and if so, did it work?

Well........... how did the gluten/wheat free experiment go for me?
I am so sorry and disappointed to report that it didnt seem to do much good at all. I know that's probably not what most of you want to hear and I would so love to be able to report otherwise but it is the truth.
Having said that, I definitely believe that different things work for different people - especially dietary solutions - so even though it did nothing for me, it could well work for others so please try it!
My flare ups seem to be more linked to hormones than diet - ie - it doesnt matter if I'm eating super-healthily, if it's a week or so before my periods are due, then I will get horrendous outbreaks everywhere which do not go until my periods are over. Then I have a few days respite (I have a short cycle too!) and it starts all over again.
So my next area of research into something that may help me is a natural way to regulate hormones. I take evening primrose already to alleviate period pains etc and IT REALLY WORKS for me on that score. I also noticed that it seems to improve the HS too.
Very sorry to everybody that was hoping for some goods news from me on the gluten/wheat free front but like I said, different things work for different people so do try! It may work wonders for you!
Love and pain free days to all

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else who tries this to see if he or she notices an improvement as well.

I read somewhere else that evening primrose oil was actually bad for HS, but I'm not sure upon what evidence.
I have at times followed gluten free diets and they've made difference whatsoever. The best thing I did was give up smoking and embark upon a regime of daily supplements and topicals. I rarely get outbreaks now.

I have also linked this to hormones - and was free and clear for 6 months after taking Androcore (spelling?) - a hormone treatment from a specialist - but as I said - this only worked for 6 months. Good luck and will keep reading.
