I hope this helps someone

Hello,

I am posting in the hope that what has worked for me will work for someone else. I have been desperately battling this problem for about 13 years ( it's hard to remember when it all started and why). Throughout these years I have exhausted just about every medical/homeopathic option available. These include; commercial products designed for this problem, diaper cream, fiber, garlic (both consuming and direct application), over the counter and prescription steroids, sleeping/anti depression pills (to help sleep through the night), etc.

While some of these things worked in the short-term (no longer than a month), the itch would always come back and especially at night when it's hardest to control.

Eventually, the best remedy I found was using Capzasin-hp cream directly applied to the area. This is quite unpleasant (especially at first) as it burns quite intensely (it's basically the same ingredient as hot peppers). That being said, this was the ONLY thing that would allow me to sleep through the night because it numbs the area, also it's a natural ingredient which is a plus. But even stopped being completely effective after a while.

The treatment that has worked for me since dec 2018, is a very small application of Capzasin and Triamcinolone Acetonide .1% which I was prescribed by my doctor. It is now to the point where I can go 1-2 days between a single application (at night). I realize that the latter ingredient is a steroid, but according to my dermatologist it's safe and honestly after so long I will take anything that works.

I am grateful for this blog and the various suggestions people provide, if anything it shows that there's no one solution to this awful problem. Good luck to everyone out there and I hope the medical community can make progress on this life-dehabilitating disease.
