I initially started taking seroxat in the 1990's and found it got me back to almost normal as i was able to resume work etc. About a year ago I was attacked after a night out and required hospital treatment.Since then i have been off work more than i have been at work due to anxiety, depression and alcholism. However even before the attack took place my above symptoms were increasing due to the fact(I think)of my been put on a similar drug to seroxat which is still paroxetine but a different brand.Has anyone else reported any off these feelings from been switched to a new brand?

If you have been pushed onto generic Paroxetine, probably because it's cheaper then you have my sympathies. My experiences are similar to yours and it took a visit to an understanding consultant

to get the GP to restore my prescription to proprietary Seroxat. I have had similar experiences with other generics where the result has been ineffective medication or disturbing and unexpected side-effects. I think there is a serious scandal taking place with generics in order to save money. The medics know what's going on but they will tell you that it is government instructions to prescribe these as default. I do believe that some generics are not manufactured to the same standards as original products and this is damaging the health of many people. They should be subject to the same quality assurance testing as the parent pharmaceutical. Refuse generics!

I too have been on seroxat since 1994. When i moved area my new Dr changed me to paroxotine. I complained and explained the side affect and that i was getting a reaction to the coating of the tablet. I insisted that i be changed back to seroxat and my notes on file at gp's show only seroxat. You need to get the prescription to say Seroxat not anything else!! persevere!! Good Luck
