I just received negative test results for Celiac.

I got three blood test results back for celiac testing. They tested Gliadin IGA, Gliadin IGG, and Tiss Tran Ab. They all came back negative. I am devistated because I was sure all the symptoms match. I have been having symptoms for a few years now but have just started having GI "attacks" which are predictable when they start. They have the same sequence and I have extreme pain, vomiting, diarreah and nausea (which I always have). Has anyone experienced this before? I am upset that I am just back to IBS, because IBS tells me nothing.

Have you looked at being gluten sensitive etc,go check that out. That will give you similar symptoms ,I've had symptoms now for going towards 10 yrs ,now I've just paid for a private test ,Ive for 2 weeks started to eat foods Id have backed away from  that included milk ,so as I gave them a full battery of foods to see what if anything will show up .

Foods I no longer can tolerate are tomatoes ,white bread ,crackers  beans, certain vegetables are a no go  I don't ever drink fizzy drinks or squashes, even dark chocolate I have for high blood pressure .

Ive bad allergies  Ecezema, and perennial rhinitis ,been non stop since this began after a bad virus  Im looking at gluten being my problem all along .That gut feeling to it has been there from the start .Go look at gluten .

Hi, sorry to hear this.  It must be extremely frustrating for you. There is still a chance you have coeliac disease though, as there are lots of us that have negative blood results but go on to have biopsies and find they do indeed have coeliac disease. Blood tests for coeliac disease are not very reliable and the fact you are experiencing bad IBS would make me want to ask my doctor (if I were you) if I could get a biopsy done.

I was diagnosed with IBS 33 years ago, but was diagnosed with coeliac disease only 3 and 1/2 years ago.  My initial blood test was negative but when I had biopsies done I was told I DID have coeliac disease. At the end of the day IBS is a symptom.

Try not to feel too disheartened yet, I know personally how frustrating it can be. Go see your doctor and discuss this with him/her to see if they will send you for a biopsy.

I was going to say the same as fiona - see about getting biopsies done.  I tested negative for CD in my blood work, but I'm not eating much gluten since my son was diagnosed a year ago.  I wasn't very serious about my own testing until some vitamin deficiencies showed up.  It takes weeks/months to see a good GI specialist, so my consultation isn't until the end of this month, but I do expect that he'll want to do the endoscopy/biopsy. I'm making sure I get some gluten every day until that's all taken care of.

At the very least it would help if your Dr. could pinpoint a diagnosis, like intolerance. If that's not even possible, or if it's all coming out negative, you can stop eating gluten and other foods that affect you. If the tests all "tell you nothing" then you can listen to your body, which is telling you quite a bit.

    Good luck!!
