I just want to know that I am not alone in this

Hi everyone!

As much as we, humans usually want to be unique and different from others, right now I only want to hear how normal and basic I am 😄 basically for almost 2 years now I have been having very bad health anxiety and even though I learned that multiple other people have it, I never heard or seen someone have it over one specific disease. I don't jump from one disease to another, I have one specific illness in my head that I think I have... I don't even think at this point it's like a daily part of my routine to base my though process and life on that illness even though in my rational side of brain I know I do not have.

so have any of you with health anxiety been obsessed over one specific illness for majority of the time or is it just me?

thank you!

you are definitely not alone in this. There are millions of people around the world that focus on one illness they are concerned about. That’s part of generalized anxiety disorder. It doesn’t really matter whether we worry about several diseases or just one, it’s all under the umbrella of anxiety. I do focus on one condition but I try not to let it control me because I know that my negative thoughts are not based on any fact or reality they are only based on emotion which is fear. Even if we convince ourselves that we have some condition, there’s nothing to back that up! There’s no tests that say we have it or anything else. Once again, there’s only fear.

of course everybody should have a complete physical check up at least once a year and if it comes back clear then we really need to get on with our lives because this life goes by so fast. We will be missing out on joy and having a fulfilling life. I don’t want to waste one day living in fear so I let it go almost 100%. hope everything goes well for you
