I keep getting attacks of dizziness and other odd symptoms that may last a couple of months??

Hi all,

Posting in general health in the hope that someone may be able to point me in the direction of a specific forum.

For the past 3 years I have been feeling ill in stages, it began with a dizzy lightheaded spell like I might faint, I remember the exact day it happened and things haven't been right since.

Symptoms come and go but I may have a couple of months when I am OK but then the next 3 months will be full of sporadic symptoms:

Lightheaded

Dizzy

Ear pain

Face pain

Crawling feeling in skins on feet, nose, feeling things that aren't there

Ringing in ears

Feeling like I have difficulty breathing like I'm suffocating

IBS type symptoms

Veins on my hands and wrists become more prominent and visible and the its seems much easier for me to get a dead arm in certain positions than normal

Feel like I'm not generally "with it", like I never fully wake up and my body is telling me something isn't right, head is foggy and thinking seems harder

Palpitations and fast heart beat

Feeling like as I am about to go to sleep my body jumps like I've stopped breathing

Numbness and burning sensation in my thigh

Pain in arms

Generally quite tired and achy

Some general pains around my body and joints, arms, jaw, hips

Total body numbness upon laying down

As I sit here I can look at the symptoms and relate them to anxiety which is what my Dr said it was but I think its something else. I am fortunate enough now, following some sessions with an anxiety specialist, to be able to recognise when I am anxious. I get anxious when I am feeling ill, and when I am not. So now I feel confident that I can say these symptoms are not caused by anxiety.

I have had the following checks and illnesses confirmed:

Brain/inner ear scan (all fine)

Scan of liver, pancreas, kidneys and spleen (all fine)

Pelvic scan (which revealed a large fibroid)

Numerous blood tests, numerous times (all fine)

Balance tests (told I could be suffering with vestibular migraines)

ECG (all fine)

Heart monitor for a week (revealed possible atrial fibrillation for which I was on meds which made me breathless so GP agreed to stop them as was not concerned)

Heart Echo (all fine)

I feel like my symptoms are general but together alarm me, I also have the nagging fact that my breathing ins't down to either of these things which makes me feel like my GP has fobbed me off with a diagnosis of something that I cannot be treated for just to get me out of his office.

In this time I have switched GP's because of feeling fobbed off but they see my age (33) and think it cant be anything serious. I am at a loss as to what to do so I have begun my search for logical illnesses that I can then ask my GP about when I go.

Needless to say I am frightened because it seems like something that is not going away alone and that is here to stay if not treated. I feel that this is something which seems to come and go in waves but never totally goes away.

Thank you all and any thoughts you have might just help me in getting to the bottom of this.

This is my issue, the hip pain could be caused by fibroid and be completely different, my dizziness could be migraines but the breathlessness I think not! That makes me think they are wrong because how weird to be diagnosed with 3 things at the same time!

Gem, I am right with you. Now when I was diagnosed, or shall I say right before I was diagnosed with ETD, I also had bouts of like I could not catch a deep breath. I would be like watching TV relaxing, and suddenly it would be like I could not get enough oxygen in my lungs. My husband has done that as well in the past. It is an awful feeling but I hate to say this I really do but I think a lot of it was because I was anxious over the other symptoms of what I was having. You would not believe the things that are going on and has gone on in my body. I could start at the skull of my head and go all the way down to my feet and tell you different things that is going on in my body. Matter of fact when I took the list to my new doctor her and the nurse kind of smiled and I think they think I'm hypochondriac. But truthfully I have been diagnosed with several issues. It's real. So I truly understand about how you feel about having so many different things at once sometimes when I get on these forums, I'm on several different forums, I feel sometimes people probably think that I am just forum jumping, LOL, but I truly do have so many things going on. Hope you find some answers. It is rather unnerving to not have any answers. I find though that here in the past few months that I've been pretty good. Thank God. Last night I had waves going off in my head again like your head is an ocean and the waves are just moving up and down up and down that's a strange feeling. But I tell you I think I am linking that to wheat. It seems when I eat bread that happens in my head. But I have had the dizziness I have tinnitus in my ears I have so much going on but enough of me hope you find the answers take care

    Hi gem,

I have many of these symptoms and have cfs/me (chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalitis) and know how you feel regards not getting answers.

I wonder if you remember any trigger to your symptoms starting? I'm lucky that i have a decent doctor who is happy to refer me to services and i feel understands my issues. I know someone also with cfs/me who struggles more than i do with the breathing and their doctor sees it as a symptom of the condition, i get breathing issues very infrequently. You could look on line to see what you think. Also, tests tend to come back normal with this condition.

There are lots of conditions that have similar symptoms and that's the difficult part-finding an answer. Cfs/me tends to need a trigger like a virus/stress/trauma.

    Hope that helps
