I know its was amlodipine!

I am a healthy 58 yr old and normally very active. BP was rising over the last year or so to 178/98 and so this Jan my Doc put me on Amlodipine 5mg. Thats when it started. Firstly with a loss of energy, then total loss of stamina, I felt like a Zombie all the time. As the month progressed I started to get forgetful, dizzy spells, very tingly left hand and painful joints all througfh my left side. BP did not drop as fast as hoped so Doc added Lisinopril 2.5mg. Hey... off with the faries now! After two weeks I could not concentrate on anything people were telling me and to the point that I was becoming detached from the real world. And that was only after a couple of weeks on the cocktail. I decided to trial which drug was causing this and first removed the Lisinopril for a few days then swapped over to stopping Amlodipine. Cor.. what a difference. Almost the next day after stopping Amlodipine I started to recover. After just one week people at work are now saying 'welcome back' and I know what they mean. BP not down yet but I am never going near Amlodipine again, its a wrecker!
Has anyone else had anything like my reaction?

improved diet and increase your exercise My wife started by walking two miles a day and then increased this to three. Also you should consult your GP as to what you intend to do. You should find he is keen to help, maybe not but it is your body. However, make no bones about it, high BP can be a serious threat to your health

However, I've noticed since I've been walking the dog, alot, my feet have not swelled up from the Amlodipine. This is a first for me, I used to take water pills every few days for the swelling, She's a pain in the butt, but she's helping me.

i have just been prescribed Amlodipine 5mg and have been taking it for 4 days, I feel like I have the flu, my lower limbs are aching constantly and I feel like I have run a marathon, the only side effect my GP told me to look out for is swollen ankles......I went shopping yesterday with my daughter who kept asking if I was ok cause I was so slow in everything I did even my driving reactions were off, so bad did I feel in the night I jumped on the internet this morning and found your site, I am kicking myself that I have taken today's tablet! Like I said only four days in how am I going to feel by the time I have my check up in two months?

I don't feel as tired and run down as when I first started, and of course all of the walking I do with my dog has helped with my swollen feet, no more swelling. So, is exercise the thing to do to relieve the negative effects, as well as calm the nerves, works for me at 76.

I know I could stop the Amlodipine, but for now my BP is good for me, and the fatigue isn't as bad as it was since I fight it with working out,
