I lied to my NHS Doctor

Hi all,

Just a quick question, I used up all my work holiday but needed a week of work for "me time", I went to my doctor to get a sick note to say I was stressed. Can I get this removed of my records if I go to the doctors and confess that I lied??

The reason why I need this removed is due to the fact I an rejoining the British army and this will set me back around 2 years in my application to rejoin.

I know you have the right to add a note on your records if you dispute anything but I'm sure you'd prefer it if the doctor removed it entirely. Perhaps mention to them about going back into the army so they understand that this will affect your career. Maybe ask them to change the word 'stress' to something like 'personal reasons', if they can't just delete it.

Thank you for your response. Yes ideally I would want it removed, I will ask what you have said and see what the Doc say`s.... Hopefully they will remove it. Do you know if it has to be the same doctor as I had a replacement doctor from another surgery who saw me on that day.

No, any doctor will do. Just ask them to show you what has been written down on your records first and then explain it wasn't stress.

That was a very silly thing to do. If you need time off then take some holiday time. Attempting to get this removed from your records may not be possible because of the backup. What your original doctor may do, depending upon just how open you are with him (and remembering that you have already lied) is to add an explanatory note and another diagnosis.

Going to a different doctor as suggested above is not going to help you.
