I look pregnant every time I eat or drink ANYTHING

I don't even know where to start with this...

For around 5 years I've had an issue where after I eat or drink anything at all, my stomach bloats to the point where I look about 7 months pregnant. The bloating stays until I go to sleep. If I can't sleep, I stay bloated the next day and any food or drink I have on top of that makes me look like I'm having twins. It is so embarrassing.

If I get around 8 hours sleep I can wake up with a flat stomach.

At first I thought it might be IBS, however, I can get bloated just by drinking a glass of water, or a handful of grapes. Even a yoghurt.

When I was younger I had an eating disorder where I would go up to 4 days without eating anything and then on the 5th day I would binge on food and then make myself sick. Around 5 years ago finally got over my eating disorder, but now I'm left with this horrible issue. Sometimes I wish I still had the ED then I wouldn't have to deal with this ugly bloating on a daily basis.

I went to my GP about this and when I explained that I thought my ED had caused this, he actually LAUGHED and fobbed me off with Buscopan that made no difference whatsoever.

I've tried everything I could think of. Cutting out all of the food groups associated with allergies and IBS but it hasn't changed at all. I even take probiotics twice a day but that just makes me feel less bloated, even when I look pregnant if that makes sense.

I have to buy clothes a size bigger because I know by the end of the day I won't be able to fit in them comfortably. It is hell.

What's worse is I never used to eat around my boyfriend as I didn't ever want him to see me naked with my big ugly bloated belly, especially as he's a personal trainer. I would never get naked around him and would always wear a nighty in bed with him. He has just left me after telling me he didn't want a relationship but has now just got with a beautiful, skinny girl which feels like a kick in the teeth and makes me feel like the reason he left was because he wasn't attracted to a big fat whale that can't eat like a normal person.

I work out every day and hardly eat anything I shouldn't. It just doesn't seem fair. If it isn't IBS, what could it be?

I can't live like this much longer.

Thank you for reading. I'm sorry it's a long rant, I've just reached my wits end and it doesn't help I suffer from crippling anxiety

Thank you for your reply. You definitely haven't offended me at all. It's nice to hear from someone that doesn't just tell me to "Man Up!" (I hate that phrase)

I'm sorry that you're going through this too. Do you bloat after eating or drinking? Have you been the doctors about it?

I bloat after breakfast and meds and bloat until i wake up in the morning, flat. Then repeat! I have been to the GPs had coeliac (not sure how to spell that ) and all bloods done. I got nothing out of it, except that I am underweight! I just did the worst thing, I googled it. This is an article abut recovery, you don't have to read it but it says about bloating after an eating disorder. If you want I can tell you what it says, you don't have to read it. Gosh, I hope I don't offend you !

Oh and Man Up is an awful phrase. I have chronic headpain and there is no cure so I am frequently told to man up, that it is just in my head and that I need to get over it. I am also bullied for it! The world is a great place! Let me know how you get on, all the best smile Jemma
