HI EVERYONE
My issue is pain in my affected knee when going from sitting to standing position. I have no pain when walking, just when I bend it my range of motion is above average and none of my exercises produce pain. Just cant figure out why it hurts standing up. I'm 74. Also it seems my other knee now hurts, since surgery!

I found standing from sitting the most difficult to do. My new knee didn't like having pressure put on it when it was bent. You don't say how long ago you had your TKR. Mine was the end of January. I can't remember when it became easier, but it's no longer a problem. It's fairly common for the other knee to to complain, as it's doing a lot more work while the new one is recovering,

Amazing how different we all are: I have no pain at all when sitting or lying down. When sitting I can press down hard on the knee also without pain. BUT, nearly 7 months after a TKR I can only just walk with a Walker because of the pain when putting weight on the leg. Stepping ove a threshold is very, very difficult!

I had bilateral medial PKR in March 2018. Recovery went very well until 10 weeks out when I developed a similar problem to you in my right knee - I could walk fine and pain free but going from sitting to standing and straightening my leg in bed was extremely painful. The joint was also very unstable.
I went to see my consultant who thought I may have torn the cartilage on the lateral side of the joint so he carried out an arthroscope to confirm what was going on. What this showed was that I had actually taken a thin layer of bone off the femur which was causing the issues. (The only incident I can recall when this may have happened was getting out of the car one day when I experienced considerable pain and was unable to walk properly).
Ultimately this led to a TKR which I had two weeks ago - recovery is going very well. I have 100 degree ROM and am walking without aids around home. Pain is at a minimum and I am feeling very positive about the future.
Good luck identifying what is causing your pain!!
