I'm 16 and have herpes

I am a 16 year old high school student who got diagnosed with herpes today. I am terrified and have nobody to talk to about it. I'm scared my life is ruined for ever. How do I deal with herpes at such a young age?

I got a swob today but I won't have the results for 3 more days but I'm 99% sure I have herpes as I have all the symptoms

okay well i hope it isn't for your sake but if it is trust me it will be okay. i only found out i had it a week ago and my doctor made me so feel good and reasurred me everything is going to be okay.

if you do have it my doctor told me to take my valtrex 3 times a day for 10 days while i have an outbreak. it helps it heal faster and reducing the risk of giving it to someone else.  make sure you don't have sex while you have an outbreak as you will give it to the other person. even if you don't have an outbreak it's best to use a condom to be on the safe side!

I know how you feel, I'm 18 and should be getting the test results back tomorrow. The symptoms started Sunday and it's been so hard, I've cried myself to sleep every night. I've kind of come to terms with it. I'm very lucky to hard a very understanding boyfriend, if I didn't have him I don't know what I would do. Keep your head up, it'll be okay
