I'm 20 and been having problems for over a year diagnosing my vulva problems!!!

I'm 20 years old, and last July I developed a vaginal tear at the bottom on the vagina about 1.5cm. I got this through intercourse, although was not painful everytime it healed it would tear again. I was prescibed antibiotic creams and asked to abstain from sex, eventually 7 months later after seeing numerous doctors i had to have a Fentons procedure to remove the damaged skin. this healed up fine and the large tear was resolved.
However, sex was painful as it was dry when this never used to be a problem even with lubrication. after intercourse i then started to develop numerous fissures on the inside of the vulva sides, these were extremely painful but would heal within a few days. i was given oestrogen cream for 3 weeks, this made no difference. i then came off the combined pill i was on, this did not help. eventually i was sent to have a biospy but as they thought it was lichen sclorois, but the biopsy came back inconclusive.
this has been persisting for over a year now and its ruining my love life, I just want some answers so I can get it sorted, so dishearting when you have tried everything - i dont know what else to do

I've had problems like you describe for years. I was diagnosed recently with LS, but the steroid ointment just seems to make it worse. The thing thats helped me the most is using Emu oil twice a day to moisturise everything. Its anti inflammatory and am now on my second bottle...,, i buy an organic version from off the net. Pretty sure we cannot name where on here, but its a well known river.
worth a try?
Xx

Hi Tasha
what a nightmare you must be having at least if you were sure it was LS youd at least know where to start. It does sound like it to me as I was diagnosed years ago and it all began with cracks and tearing which I did nothing about for ages just assumed I was super sensitive down there. Have they tried you with clobestol ointment, it does seam to be the only thing recommended by dr's and believe me I've seen loads? Unfortunately when you have a flare up you have to avoid anything that will aggravate it until it heals (easier when you're my age than yours). I use coconut oil to keep things oiled have not tried emu as the thought of bit of a bird puts me off, but whatever works for you. Get some clob from your dr and apply every day it should do the trick and then be vigilant if you think you're having a flare up. Good luck my lovely

Hi Tasha, I haven't had the tears, just very sensitive red skin and very swollen at times. It is really important to use clob or similar I was told twice a day morning and night until cleared then once a day. When things have settled keep using 2 or 3 times a week as maintenance. I don't tear after sex but can become very irritated and swollen. I always shower straight away and apply my steroid cream. I use coconut oil also but never in place of my steroid. I wish you well with all this Tasha, it's not a nice thing to have especially at such a young age - Jo

Hi Tasha, reading your message I can relate so much! I'm 22 and also having similar issues that my doctor hasn't been able to figure out yet. I first went as was getting tearing like your at the bottom of vagina, which also would eventually heal but then always tear again, so frustrating.
When I first saw my gyno about it she firstly thought it might be LS so started me on steroid creams, I was so depressed by this but used then for over a month and didn't seem to help much and also got red sore areas. Another doctor thought it wasn't LS atall but maybe exzma so just used lots of emoluments. I have also also tried oestrogen cream for the tear which seemed to help a little initially but not significantly.
Anyway eneded up having a biopsy when things got really sore a few months ago, but results also came back inconclusive, except for the fact that I had a lot of thrush. (And chronic inflammation). My doctor is now thinking maybe my issues is due to not fully treating thrush which I have been getting most months sometimes twice. You can have types that don't respond to the normal treatment so they have to test for different strains but my test didn't work, so waiting to redo and still waiting for answers!
I just feel like it is ruining my life now, have tried to be patient and wait for answers but it has been over half a year now or never being able to enjoy sex or rarely have it etc etc ?? It also doesn't help that my gyne is pretty awful at reply to be and making time/
