Aching limbs, no libido, vaginal atrophy, thinning hair, UTI's and soreness. Not on any medication. Wondering if HRT is possible ?

Hi Marilyn, I'm 66 and have been on HRT for about 14 yrs. GP's are reluctant to prescribe HRT after the age of 60 as the risks increase, but, if you feel you would be better off with HRT (I know I am!) then talk to your GP. If he/she is willing to give you a prescription then you can try it and see if it improves your symptoms. Don't get fobbed off with antidepressants and such... HRT has saved many a womans sanity! Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks I think it's worth a try although don't hold out much hope.

Point out to your GP that it is your body and your quality of life that is suffering. Tell them you know and will accept the risks..If you have other GP's at your Practise perhaps you could another GP? Failing that you can buy it online at certain chemists.

Haven't had the same issues as you but was most annoyed thar doctors kept fobbing me off. None of them mentioned HRT patches or gel - why??? Been on patches for over a year, been fine. Give it a go, what have you got to lose? Btw I am 66 and was very reluctant to try HRT tablets.
