I'm 70 years old and since 2 months ago have been suffering with debilitating pain and burning in my vagina. I've never felt this suicidal. Diagnoses with atropic vaginitis and prescribed low dose vagina estrogen. Did not work and have to wait for two weeks for a gynecological assessment. Told in recent hospital emergency visit that i needed systemic estrogen. i feel desperate wIting for this consult and would like to know what to expect if anyone has experienced this . I live in Canada

    Hi jo-ann

Do you have access to a alternative dr where you live? You might have better luck with sorting out this issue. After menopause we lose our good hormones that keep those tissues healthy and if we don't replace them it can lead to issues like atrophy. Maybe a different estrogen cream is what you need. In the meantime you could try coconut oil and see if that doesn't give you some relief in the meantime.
