I'm a hippie now...

Hey all,

Thanks so much for your lovely and kind messages on my post yesterday.

I have had the op, and in the ward.

Had pre med and was snoozing way.

Then went thru to get spinal epidural. Weirdest feeling, my brain telling my legs to move and nothing happening.

Anyway, went to theatre and was only gonna get a sedation...

Last thing I remember is being rolled onto my side and nothing after that...

Apparently I was moving about and flailing so they ended up having to give me general anaesthetic too. Have no recollection of moving at all. Funny what the body can do when you are unaware haha.

Beginning to be able to move my legs a bit more and physio said she will see how I feel at 6pm before she finishes. If not able to walk then it will be tomoro.

Also had to use the dreaded bed pan... All you girls will know about that. Dignity has flown right out the window...

Anyway sorry for such a long post.. Wanted to let you all know how i was/am!

I'm finally a hippie. (Pain in the hip area is like a throbbing stabbing pain the now?! Is that normal?

Speak to you all soon,

Love Natalie xx

Good luck recovery will come, I found slowly first ten days or so really quite sore but things will get better do as they tell you and do physio hard but will be worth it.  Iam eight months in and get aches after walking dog but am improving.

Well done onwards and upwards now the hard part is the worry before

the next part is getting moving but keep taking the painkillers and ask

for them as there are no medals given for trying to be brave you have

suffered enough pain so no more after a few days you will understand

where we are all coming from regarding getting going without that awful pain

Take care and we'll done speedy recovery on the way

Glad you made it through! If you are having throbbing, stabbing pain, you should talk to the nurse asap and make sure you are getting your full pain meds and on time, too.

Well done ihad to have a catheter as I couldnt manage a bed pan, even though after having a scan my bladder was full to bursting. I am on day 8 now and moving about on my crutches in the house but going out for physio tomorrow. Hope you are soon up and about, the first time I went on my crutchès I didnt think I would be able to put my operated leg down as it was painfull but gritted my teeth went for a small walk with the physio and got back into bed and fell asleep for a good couple of hours.i have been fine since.

Yes I had a catheter too and altho dreaded it it was such a good thing for 2 days not to have to struggle to loo or on a bed pan!  keep short walks but 3 times a day ..it really helps...I gave myself a new house target each day.

      Well done anyway.
