I'm at my wits end.😢

Hope you don't mind if I have a moan.  I can't find ANYTHING that removes the pain!  Cocodomol doesn't, the 'so called' pain relieving gels don't (I've tried 3 different types).  Can anyone suggest anything else?

Yesterday I twisted my hips somehow as I got out of the chair, the pain was excruciating.  Since then I can hardly walk (how does excercise, excercise fit in then?)

I had been doing so well, 20 mins walk per day (and I've always disliked walking!) - physiotherapy, etc.

Hi constance, so sorry to hear that you are in such a lot of pain, It's horrid I know, when I have been in awful pain I take Tramadol, but you have to be careful that it doesn't interact badly with any other medication you are on, so please check with your doctor. I do hope you have family and friends to support you.

Thanks kippy!  Thank goodness I DO have support from my hushand and daughter.  My husband is 80 years old, but in excellent health (touch wood!) and he helps SO much.

My husband is 74 this year and has the bones of a 30 year old. Thankfully, he is enjoying excellent health because he has me to look after.

Without him, I would be in dire straits!

I have just tried Bowen therapy and I think it is helping. I have yet to challenge it sitting or walking far. My issue is the sacroiliac joint which kind of locks or spasms. It is hard to describe.

Google Bowen therapy and give it a try. It is not massage or anything rough.

The therapist seeks to bring your body into sync by various touches.

Painkillers were a waste of time for me once the sacroiliac joint reacted and I had to just wait it out on a recliner.

    Hope this helps.

I know about Bowen therapy (EileenH often recommends it), but the nearest therapist is about 30 kilometers away (such a fag to get there).

      Thank goodness for recliners!😄

      Yes, recliners are great!

      Do you have bulging discs?

Is your pain caused by a nerve?

I actually posted on the wrong site (brain fog!!), it should have been posted on the Osteoarthritis site.

Pain is caused by PMR (an autoimmune illness) and polyarthritis.  Everything hurts.  Poor me!😡😃😃

No worries Constance! I have arthritis as well. My hands are the worst especially when cold.

We use osteo panadol in Australia. I have tramadol if bad.

I have it in the back and the knees and shoulders and probably other places as well.

      I wish you well.

That's why I didn't re-post to the OA forum - I knew many on here also had OA.

Hips, knees and ankles my worst ones.  That's why walking is so difficult!

It is miserabale to be in such pain. the last time i had mind numbing pain was when i slipped a disc and couldnt sleep on my back or turn on my sides , let alone be able to walk..I was prescribed valium ..but that was 30 yrs ago  and i live in the middle east...but the weeks I was on valium helped with the pain (slept through most the initial agony) The theory behind that was the valium relaxes your back muscles totally (and all muscles) so the spasms stop. I dont know if different people react differently to valium but i slept all the time and that helped . Maybe in other parts of the world valium is not given as freely. Maybe it is not as option for you.

What about solpadeine ..another very strong painkiller...especially the horse tablets which have to be disolved..my hubby was prescribed that last summer when he slipped 2 discs...again it does make you sleepy (but probably not as bad as the valium) Hope u feel better soon

Hi shaq!  For some reason I imagined you were a man!😃. Shaq sounds so masculine!

Sleeping has never been a problem for me (I sleep about 9 hours a night - with a couple of 'pain' breaks, so tablets would be catastrophic for me).  As I have PMR I am on Prednisolone, so must be careful using other drugs.

Ah well!  There are so many people worse off than me so 'grin and bear it' is the only way.

Am really looking forward to the Spring.  March has been so cold!  What are the temperatures like in the middle east?  And exactly where do you live?  (Nosey, what?).

      Have a great weekend.

      Regards, Constance.

Would either hot or cold compresses at the site of origin of the pain help?  I remember some years ago slipping as I walked down a steep hill near my home.  (The pavement looked wet, but it was actually a glaze of ice.)  Whacked my tailbone and was in agony at work all day.  When I came home I collapsed in a comfy chair and soon realized that what had happened wasn't just the bump, but I'd caused some sort of muscle spasm - probably because I was at work all day.  As I warmed the area the muscles relaxed and although it still hurt the next day it was nothing like it had been, and it steadily got better.  I'd been worried because this was just a few days before a flight to Hawaii for a family wedding where I'd be sitting in airplanes for many many hours.  Anyway, anything you can do to RELAX the muscles around the painful joints may help.
