I'm back!!

Hello there my old knee friends, the ones that are still there! Also, hopefully new knee friends.

Well after waiting a year after LTKR I finally managed to get in to see my surgeon & get signed off & back on the waiting list for RTKR, as that was 25/1017 I didn't imagine I would be getting my op until Spring if 2018. Imagine my surprise when I was phoned on the 1st December offering a date for 16th December! Gobsmacked!! What with impending Christmas the last 2 weeks have been manic! What with PreOp assess, Therapy session & blood tests!

So I had my op 16 hours ago & all fine, well as fine as these things go in the first few days! Hence being on here at 02.53am! Had a wobble at around 22.30 & a good cry, but had to give myself a good talking to!

Can't sleep, knee not too bad but lower back has decided to play up, can't get comfy, too tired to read & I thought I know a group of people who will really understand! So, just thought I'd share with you & catch up. Hope to speak again soon

Welcome back!?  I'm also a 2 timer. I was so surprised that each knee was so different from each other. They are 3 months apart. Allow a good cry and get behind you and allow those you love to take care of you. Good luck

    Hi Marilyn!

Glad to hear you had your surgery and all went well!??

I didn't sleep much either in the hospital. Spent LOTS of time headed to the bathroom, though!

Whatever you need to do, just do it! A good cry helps a lot. Deep breathing helps, too. I did journaling which kept me busy. Nights are long and noisy in hospitals!

Keep coming back and posting. That helps, too.

Know that there is a huge bunch of us here for you and following your journey in solidarity!??

Marilyn , you are brave, i am 5 1/2 weeks post op on LTKR ( my first real surgery) and can tell you that i wont go through this again, pain and swelling are too much to deal with and worse than anticipated. Doing well in PT bend is only at 95 but the thought of going back to work in 2 weeks is freaking me out.. good luck and god bless

Welcome back Marilyn, I couldn't sleep when I was in hospital, too much noise for me, luckily I had a TV and I was in a single room with an ensuite so I didn't have to bother anybody. Only to help me get back into bed. I'm 12 weeks post LTKR now I thought I'd be recovered enough to go back to work by now instead I had to hand a sick note in for another month yesterday. My boss said "The things you will do to get Christmas off" I told her I wasn't exactly having a wonderful time but I will make the most of a bad thing. Her reply was you will pay for it next year.....charming. Anyway wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you all for your kind words. Yes I managed to get 2.5 hours sleep in the end. Waiting now for physio, not sure if they'll be any on a Sunday but I was assured at the therapy session they were working. Got up had a wash & sitting looking out at the fog outside, so not all bad. Hoping to get rid of the cannula soon as it keeps catching on everything. Onwards & upwards. And yes, no Christmas dinner to cook for me this year, the first in 45 years!! I'm gonna enjoy that!!

Cheers everyone & wishing you all a very merry Christmas
