I'm back from Egypt!

Arrived back from Egypt yesterday, 2 days late due to the snow :snowball: . Well I gave my body the severest test it's had since the PMR diagnosis - and - it passed with flying colours :D . I did a 15 hour trip to Luxor, walked miles in Petra in searing heat. I drank too much :redwine: and I ate too much :cake: . I snorkelled, I jumped off boats, I swam for hours. I even had a 2 hour bout of 'Gippy Tummy' and as suggested by the Doctor, just upped my Prednisolone by 1mg just for the one day. What a difference from this time last year when I went on a cruise and I could hardly walk. I remember hobbling to the breakfast buffet and having to hang on for dear life while I tried to persuade my shoulders to help me out with the coffee and toast. Do I think I've overdone it and will suffer later? Who knows, I had a fabulous time and will just keep my fingers crossed. Don't much like this weather by the way. Hope you're all keeping well and its good being back with my PMR friends.

Lizzie Ellen

PS: I snorkelled in the bay where the shark attack happened just 24 hours later :shark:

I'm in a hurry for my wine and skiing (see the other post) but I just logged into your post to say I hoped you'd avoided the sharks!!!!! Obviously a close shave! Glad you had such a good time.

Welcome back, LizzieEllen. I think I'd have stayed there if I were you! Hope the snow isn't too much of a shock. Wonderful that you were able to do so much and have such a good holiday.

    hi LizzieEllen,

Welcome back from me too and delighted you avoided the sharks :D

I had thought a trip to Egypt would be nice...but not so sure now !!!

I'm delighted you had such a good holiday and were able to enjoy it, but be warned, having just come back from Antigua 2 weeks ago, this cold snap takes a bit of getting used to .

That said, I think all of us PMR sufferer's should be prescribed a holiday somewhere warm in the winter months, as I know I was definately better in a warmer climate.....can't see the NHS or the Irish health service sanctioning it though

    Very best wishes, Pauline

Hi Pauline, pleased you had a good time in Antigua and yes, coming back to this weather is a bit of a shock. Stayed in the warm for the first few days but ventured out yesterday. Very achy legs this morning!

Hi Mrs G, Lanzarote in December - bliss. I agree with you about the local airports, so much easier. I stopped my reduction while I was away, thought it wouldn't hurt for a couple of weeks (and made packing the pills less complicated!) Enjoy your lovely break in the sun.

Hi Mrs O and Eileen. So glad I did the snorkelling before the shark attacks :shark: The afternoon before the first attack I jumped off the back of a boat and snorkelled for 45 minutes in the bay where the Russians were mauled. Frightening now but it was glorious at the time. Poor, poor people, feel so sorry for them.

I felt so fit and alive in the beautiful warm weather and sea - I'm absolutely sure that the weather makes a big difference. It does to me anyway. Having said that I haven't suffered at all from the journey etc. Thank goodness I packed loads of 'just in case' medications as we were delayed for two days/three mornings. Lots of people at the hotel were panicking because they were running out of their medicines - but then, I've always been a bit 'belt and braces'. Have a good weekend everyone.
