I'm back - second THR

Posted , 8 users are following.

Stopping to introduce myself before posting.  I had my first THR last April today I learned my second hip will be done three weeks from Monday.

I was a member of this group last year and the information and support meant the world to me.

My sister was doing some research on my type of car (SUV) for after my surgery and the only credible info she found was......you guessed it, right here from this group posted four years ago.

This is the go-to place.

This site is so very helpful, when I had my THR in February of this year I was often on here asking advice and checking on other people’s progress. It’s information is invaluable especially when you’re in pain and worried, you feel there’s someone willing to listen.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery and wishing you a speedy recovery 🤞🏼

Good luck with your second operation. Hope everything goes as well as the first. I am waiting to be seen as an urgent case for my left hip which is severely arthritic and in a few months time, I'll have the right one one. I found out that I have hip displagia as does my sister, who eight years my junior. She found out she had it last year when she had boney growths removed, but as her pain continues, she's having a full replacement in November. She is having the anterior approach done and I, the posterior. My surgeon wants to see me as a day case. It will be interesting comparing notes!

I can  certainly relate to that.  I have researched how to get in and out of a five on the floor car - right hand drive after left hip replacement - nothing - only video snips of how to get in and out of the passenger's seat.  Hopeless!

Hopefully, someome on here has a few tips.  The one thing that I have done is to place a plastic bag on the seat so that you can swivel around more easily.

All the best for your op.
