I'm confused about alcohol and Methotrexate

I'm really confused about using alcohol with Methotrexate.  I was told by my daughter's doctor that it should NOT be done.  A lot of you on the Methotrexate discussion are stating that you can drink but just a few days after you take the drug to prevent sick feeling.  I was under the assumption that the drinking is not good because alcohol is processed through the liver and also Methotrexate is processed through the liver....so it could do damage to your liver.  As far as I was aware, it had nothing to do with the ill feeling the combination could cause.  My daughter should NOT be drinking anyhow as she is only 15, but I know there are and have been times that she has consumed alchohol.

I too, have been concerned about the comments. I was on Methotrx for 10+ years and never drank at all.  I just can't understand why alcohol is so important to everyone.  There are many joys in life, you don't need alcohol to have fun. Find out who you really are inside and not who alcohol makes you. You have been given one liver, a very important organ -they don't transplant. Is it worth risking liver failure? Really? Your regular tests will show your liver is not normal. I don't care what the doctors tell you, oh it's ok, It's NOT ok. The Gall Bladder is suffering to make up for this. Please, please consider what you are doing. Read all the info you can find on what to do to get off methotrexate and then you can have a drink if it's so important.

Happy New Year to everyone..sober is a fun one too

I was also told not to drink alcohol by the specialist nurse. However, the Doctor said it was Ok to drink reasonably. I have tended to moderate my intake but do still drink and I do not feel any ill effects but I would also like to know whether I am risking things by drinking alcohol or not?
