Hello!

My name is Cristian, i'm 35 years old.

Six months ago my fingers on the left hand numb and i did not have strength in my fingers.

I can not eat with a fork and similar things.

Muscle between the thumb and forefinger is disappeared three months ago.

Dificulate to express myself(but not in my native language)

My voice is changed.

Eyelids tremble.

Orientation issues.

Difficulty learning new things and remember them.

Drowsiness during the day.(very often lately)

Trembling of the body or parts of it.(rarely)

Sometimes trouble breathing.

Burning pain on my wrist.

A period numb my both hands while trying to sleep.

I had leg cramps while trying to sleep or if i just lie in bed.

I recently started having pain in back of the neck.

Poor balance or impairment of my gait(happened a few times in recent months to feel i can not stand on my feet)

My left hand and the left leg are verry weakness.

'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

I went to the neurologist to University Hospital Lewisham and the result was this:

On neurogical examination today I could appreciate:

Normal cranial nerves,no nystagmus,no cerebellar signs,

normal power in right arm and right leg,

deficit of power distally in the left hand particulary in thumb abduction and adduction,

in finger abduction,in wrist flexion and extension, equal to 4/5.

I could also appreciate slight deficit of power 4/5 in left leg flexion and extension,

normal sensory sistem in upper and lower limbs,no muscular fasciculations, normal

deep tendon reflexes in the right limbs generalised reduction of deep tendon reflexes

in his left limbs.

In order to clarify the nature of his simptoms I have requested for am MRI whole spine which showed:

The vertebrae shows normal algnment and marrow signal. The cranial cervical junction and the

spinal cord appears within normal limits. No signal changes are seen ithin the cord.

Axial scans were acquired from C3-C4 to C6-7 vertebrae and also through the last three lumbar vertebral disc.

There is no spinal stenosis or nerve root compression at eny level.Impression:No significant

abnormality to explain patients symptoms.

I would also be grateful to colleagues into the Neurophysiology Department,King"s College Hospital

if they could arrange for an EMG/nerve conduction study in order to rule out muscular or nerve involvement.

I have also requested for blood test.I will forward to you the results of the pending

investigations as soon as I receive them.

I hope to get an answer!

Thank you from my heart and I wish you good health!

I apologize for my poor English.

Poor you christian..it's sounds just awful for you..have you ever been to see a Rhumotologist..they are the specialist that usually diagnose Fibro etc...most of your symptoms are what most of us get with Fibro...others need to read your post and see if they get some or all of the symptoms too...I had to research Fibro myself..long before a doctor diagnosed me...I actually took some print outs from my research to the doctors..thats when he referred me to a Rhumo...unfortunately for us..most gp's just dont know all about Fibro..Christian, really hope you get a diagnoses soon..even though it is forever..it is eventually controlled..mine goes in and out of remission, then the flare ups come..but I can cope with them..I knew I had all the symtoms but just wasn't diagnosed until a few years later..I must have had every test there was to check each and every symptom over the years..including a Nuero..you must be extremely stressed too..understandably, which is a huge contributor to Fibro...try and relax a bit...praying for you,..be blessed and have a great day..:-) xxx

Hi Christian, sounds like the consultant is doing a very thorough job. Your symptoms could be any number of things, please try not to think the worst, it is difficult but won't help any of your symptoms. I have known several people with Motor Neurone disease and they all progressed quicker through their symptoms than you have, also there is no sense of urgency in your consultants report, there would be if he thought you had something terminal. I would suggest you phone his secretary and tell her your concerns, I'm sure she will be able to reassure you. Take care Cristian, try to relax.
