I've been given sulfasalazine 3 tab per day, along with methotrexate and celebrex. I still don't find good. My knees are stiff and have hard time walking. I feel my teeth have become sensitive and also have severe headache.I have noticed my left feet nails are turning orange in color. I wonder why. Is it only me or anyone else experience the same???

I have extremely sensitive teeth, my gues is MTX although the Rheumatologist scoffs at that idea says I just have bad teeth - all of them apparently.   Orange nails would have to be Sulfsalazine.

I stopped sulfasalazine as it turned me orange! Eyes and skin. Not had teeth problems. But there are various and numerous side effects from RA drugs. Its pot luck what ones we get. Try and be strong and time will settle you down.

How long have you been on MTX? It takes a couple of months to kick in, sometimes more.

I didn't know they gave sulfa and MTX together. I thought it was one or the other.

Thank you. I've been taking MTX since 6 months...

In the beginning I was given chloroquine tab along with MTX and sulfasalazine. I had severe itchiness and started to develop rash. I was told it’s because of MTX so I stopped taking. But continued with the other med. Later I learnt that it was due to chloroquine. So I told my rheumy. He asked me to stop

Chloroquine. He then put me back on MTX, sulfasalazine and Celebrex along with Folic.

I’ve started MTX regularly for 2 months now. But my rheumy increased sulfasalazine dose…2 in the morning and 1 in the night. I’m experiencing severe headache.

    Hi Ann

Maybe it would be good to go back to your rheumy and ask what more they could do for you as it s particularly depressing if you can't get around or get out very easily.

there is more they could try, I am on 3 DMARDS and a larger dose of sulfasalazine than you. I have also had knee drained of fluid and steroid put in. All of this has helped. You could mention the headaches

. I don't know what they would suggest for you as an individual but I do know they won't do more unless you let them know it s not working well at the moment. All the best
