I'm flying tomorrow and my anxiety is killing me. Help

Hi guys, this is not my first time flying, and every time it's a nightmare. But this time, I'm particularly worried, because this is the first time I'm flying by myself. My fiancé tested positive for covid, and now he can't come, we didn't want to lose both tickets, so we decided it was best if I went ahead by myself. It's a very short flight, not even 2.30 hours, but I'm so terrified I can't sleep since last night (when I found out I was going by myself) I keep panicking, because I know I'll have a panic attack, alone, in a flying tin can! I'm terrified it might crash due to a technical failure, the pilot goes crazy and crashes us, or terrorists take over. I know it sounds so crazy and irrational, but I feel so helpless, scared and vulnerable. Please help, at this point I don't know what to do, my family is driving me to the airport tomorrow and I don't want to look like a crying mess and worry them

I am very sorry that you are so scared. Is this a place that you have to go to?
keep in mind that when you have anxiety, your thoughts can really play a trick on you and cause you to fear.
Try to remember the facts about flying. it is so much safer than driving a car. I can’t even remember the last time there was an incident involving a commercial airliner in this country. And think about how many car accidents there are every single day!
the chance of anything happening to an individual person while flying is literally one in 1 million or even more!
You could really benefit from bringing some earbuds and your iPhone or another device and listening to A meditation for relaxation, mindfulness breathing, or one for calming your fear, etc
proper breathing for anxiety is the key to relaxation!
Pick some out before you leave so that you will have them ready. They even have some for people who are panicking and they really do help calm you down!
you could listen to these the whole way and before you know it you will be landing! with earbuds it’ll feel like you are somewhere else. When my daughter flies she likes to wear an eye mask like the ones that some people wear when they sleep. So she wears that plus the facemask because of Covid and she has her earbuds in playing her music or whatever. She said it’s so relaxing that she feels like she is somewhere else.
if you prepare ahead of time, you will have everything you need to relax. It can be very pleasurable! there are some doctors who can prescribe medication for anxiety but you’d have to make sure that you are not driving yourself.
you are going to be just fine!
Have A great trip! ❤

Thank you you words are so soothing. I really have to go. I was visiting my parents for thr holiday season, and we were supposed to go back last week by car, but the car broke down a few days before we had to leave and I start working again next Monday.. I will try to listen to some music, or watch a movie or something. I think the fact that this situation is completely out of my hands makes it more scary for me, i mean i cant control the plane, the pilot or the people inside

I can't stand flying! I get so anxious it makes me feel like I'm going to pass out. I take 1/2 a xanax now about 2 hrs before and it helps a lot! And I take baby steps. Like ok I am in the car 1 step closer, now I am at the airport 1 step closer, through security at the gate and so forth. Once I get on the plane I'm good for some reason it's just the whole getting there that gets me.

Exactly before you know it you will be getting off the plane and it's over! Think of all the things you are going to do when you get there!! You've got this!

Hi
I don't know if you will have flown by now. But here goes anyway. I am so afraid of flying that I didn't take a flight for about 6 years.
I did therapy, fear of flying courses...you name it, I did it. In the end the thing that helped me the most was reading a book about fear of flying by the same guy that wrote that book about giving up smoking, I think he's called Allen Carr or something like that.
Now I have managed to take a few short flights (Spain to Uk). When I sit in the plane I close my eyes and say to myself...I now hand myself over to the pilot's ability and to God. And by surrendering it has seemed to help a lot.
